thanks all, this is now resolved

I have measured the Duxford one but unfortunately misplaced some of them and its three hours each way to get some more, and other commitments won't let me do it in time
-
I need some measurements for a scale model project, but I need them in the next 7 days
not many, because I've already measured one, but I need some I missed and some I got to be confirmed

Hi,
I'm in urgent need of help from anyone that has access to a MkII (preferable) or MkI conqueror
Is there anyone in such a position that might be able to help me with some information?
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris
I'm in Bristol
But I can send drawings if you could measure for me? Its not the whole thing, just some bits and bobs like the commanders sights and other odds and ends

Hi,
I'm a model maker and I'm working on a CVRT project. Can anyone that owns a Scorpion or Scimitar help me out either with measurements or access to measure for myself?
Thanks

New improved Ferret...with a 4 spoke steering wheel !! (still can't believe I missed that.)
www.kitformservices.com in the Military Range section.
Thanks 'Ferretkit'....saved me a job of opening 50 boxes after they were packed
Best regs.

Or worse still, having to make and post out 50 replacement parts. Been there done that:(

To be fair, a lot of 60s war films suffer from 'stick a cross on it' disease
The Big Red One is a pretty good film, but the use of Israeli super shermans for tigers at Kesserine pass is a bit iffy. Can't remember what they used to represent a tiger in the Sicily scene, but I do recall it wasn't german, or indeed WWII vintage
Likewise a Bridge Too Far is quite good. Postwar Leopards doing Panther impressions aside
I guess it was just the case that there was an abundance of surplus kit about when these films were being made and people were less picky in those days about the equipment used. Especially if you are filming in the US where there was easy access to hundreds of shermans M3 HTs etc, and next to no real panzers.

Thanks Robin
I tend to pick subjects for my kits with big hatches so you can see the interiors when they are built. Not all tanks are suitable for this in 1/35
That being said, there is a gentleman building on of my churchill interiors on a production line setting which should show it off that little bit better

If its a Matilda II, and thats why you want to know then Mk probably won't make any difference so I wouldn't worry on that
I'm afraid I don't have the weights so I'll leave that so someone that knows. I know Rex Cadman has one though, you could drop him an email
If it is a MkI (matilda II MkI that is, not a Matilda (I)) I would be extremely interested to see it....

If its a Matilda II, is it the MkI, II or III/IV?

Bob,
Sorry to bring the wrong news but the change to white interiors in British AFVs was very temporary and as Chris said was the result of shortages in 1941/2. We reverted to silver/aluminium as soon as possible and certainly by mid 1943 but each factory will have had a different change date and some may never had changed to white at all. I have examined a considerable number of range wrecks and have never seen any sign of white paint on any part of a Centaur or Cromwell. I have seen white in Covenanters and early Valentines and as Paul said Daimler ACs. I also have seen a specification for the prototype Covenanter which specifies white interior but refers to change back to silver when available.
Very interesting indeed, thanks David.

As far as I know from my reasearch they were 'silver' (more aluminium) pre-war.
In 1941/42 a shortage of aluminium to make the paint due to the battle of the Atlantic and demands from aircraft production etc lead to the War Department ordering a switch to white interiors.
After the war this reverted to silver.
However my research only goes as far back as immediately pre-war. I can't say when the practice of using silver started

Thats my point Tony
Compared to travesties like U571, renaming a dog can hardly be called a great movie foul. If the rest of the film is right I fail to see why the dog's name is an issue. If it isn't, well that's another matter entirely......

This story has been going round for quite a while
Complete storm in a teacup for me I'm afraid. The name of the dog is so inconsequential to the story as to be laughable. In fact, the dog is hardly important to the story at all in my opinion and it could easily be left out completely
So long as they get the main historical facts right; who these men were, there incredible skill and bravery and what they achieved, and of course the oh so english eccentric genius of Barnes Wallis then personally I wouldn't care if they called the dog Adolf

Thanks guys
I'm afraid I can't post too many pictures of the Saladin as the build has been picked up as an article for a modelling mag; but seeing as Howard has mentioned the interior....
As you asked Howard, here are some shots of some of the kits I produce:
Churchill MkIV Interior (1:35)
And Matilda Interior (also 1:35)

Thanks guys:-)
Jessie the Jeep: I'm afraid I only do vehicles and the occassional figure. I just can't work up any real enthusiam for planes and boats; just not my thing I'm afraid

Hi Guys
I must admit, I'm a modeller rather than an MV collector, but my business of making resin kits has brought me firmly into the MV world working with collectors to produce my kits of (primarily) british vehicles and interiors
As well as producing kits I like to model other companies' too.
Here are som models I've completed in the last year or so:
COMPANY - a Dieppe MkI Churchill (AFV Club tank, Cromwell models conversion, scratchbuilt interior and deep wading)
FCM 36 (Azimut with Scratchbuilt interior, figure by Hornet and base by Celticwerks)
Sherman III Mid Production (Dragon kit with TMD wading stacks and various scratchbuilt bits)
Tasca Sherman III DV with scratchbuilt stowage and deep wading, crew is miniart with some replacement heads
Des Kit P16 Kegresse, out of the box
Resicast Mortar Carrier (on Tamiya Bren Carrier base kit), this is still very much a work in progress)
Finally, this one, a commission build (still in progress) of the KFS 1/24 Saladin
(open to more commissions if anyone wants a scale model of their pride and joy by the way :-D )
Tahnks for looking

Tankograd, publishers of the Militar Fahrzeuge series, do a book on BAOR in Germany 1945 to 1979 that covers the Pig in Germany (amongst almost every other armoured thing sent out for BAOR mind you). These are photobooks so are heavy n good pictures and light on text
Might be worth looking up a copy?

To be honest, I might be tempted to do British reenactment myself if it wasn't for fact that I have a physique more suited to dad's army than frontline infantry. Still, such concerns didn't seem to bother some of the SS guys (not exactly the picture of Aryan physical perfection if you know what I mean )

I need two track links from something russian; preferrably BMP, T54, T55 or T-72
They do not need to be serviceable, just visibly presentable
PM me if you have something with a price
Thanks!
