  1. Hi Andy, welcome to the forum. Did you ever feed us all at Weston Park?

    Andy.

hi, i may have fed you at weston park :D we went there for a few years on the run,and i took every thing i owned at one time or another(bedfords, foden, cookset, landrovers).stopped going when we had things lifted by people "travelling" through our camping area.thanks for the reply.

  2. Hi to one and all,

I feel an imposter having sold my Bedfords and Foden quite a while ago.I did the show thing for a few years feeding the needy and greedy with my cookset and burning vast quantities of fuel in trucks getting about, however i have only recently found this forum so have joined to see whos doing what and maybe get back into it. Its good to "see" familiar "faces" and whilst i have nothing like some of the experience compared to some of the guys in here i did for my sins 10 years as a REME vm and served my time as a steam and gas turbine technician so can hold my own when it comes to shakin the spanners :D.Any way its a great site to pick up more knowledge so im off mooching.

  3. Assuming you don't want to cart loads of timber around on a drug, nor sugarbeet on a trailer, but just trundle from timber job to timber job, then you can always tax it as SPECIAL VEHICLES. £165 per year same as Agricultural Machine. I suppose you could even use a 1983 Bedford TM 4x4 winch truck in this way with no MOT requirement (no load carrying though).

OR, if since it is a Matador (pre 1960), you can simply tax it as HISTORIC and pay nothing! You can still trundle from timber job to timber job, but in addition you can take it to rallies and other recreational use (which in theory you cannot do on SPECIAL VEHICLES?).

Here's a conundrum - what if it was a 1971 4x4 cargo truck with Hiab? If you taxed it HISTORIC you would need an MOT? But if you taxed it SPECIAL VEHICLES you would not need an MOT but would have to pay £165 tax?? And not be able to travel to rallies???

You could go to rallies if you had a"job" to do with your special vehicle.I ran my fh70 limber to all manner of shows (registered as a crane) and running on red (single engine).True you cant carry gear but you got the wife to follow in the landrover and trailer. For what its worth unless you drive like a clown or your truck is clearly falling to bits you will seldom draw attention to yourself.

  4. hi folks.

Any one out there with a parts catalogue for a 24 volt 127 Rapier Land Rover or a 24 volt 110 FFR

Does anyone out there have the part number for the alternator belt which drives the 24v alternator. Its driven from the water pump pulley centre groove and past a tensioner pulley. Also this engine has screen leads and dissy cap. will standard cap and leads fit the dissy? Any help much appreciated.
