  1. Near Hitchin in Herts there's a yard called rush green motors. A few years ago I went round there looking for some bits, from memory I saw the following in various states of repair.

Diamond T closed cab - complete

    Scammell SV2S - Complete

    AEC Mattador - Complete

    Thornycroft Antar - Complete x 2

Queen mary trailers 14.00x20 wheel type x 4 stacked

    various Chevys - bits only

Scammell R100 - for parts only

Scammell Tank transporter tractor unit - parts only

Morris Mk1 armoured car - restorable - but he wants too much for it.

Crossley 4x2 tractorunit - chassis and engine

    AEC coles Crane - complete

    Bedford QL - complete

Various Land rovers, bedfords (modern) and trailers.

There is also a rare 100tonne scammell.

I'll have to check my photos of the day to see if I've missed any out.

  2. I believe so yes, theres probably about 10-20 wartime ones left (not all restored, I know of 11 restored ones) and loads left from post war as the hippo model in one form or another was in production untill the mid 1970's

  3. No not that easy, they have a constant mesh G/box rather than a crash box, so there's let scope for mistakes.

The steering is heavy as its COE. Brakes are terrible. they are hydraulic with an exauster, so rather like a series land rover braking system on a 10 tonne truck, ie u need to plan ahead!

Plus points is its easy to reverse as its square & makes a great camper. ( spent 12 days in Normandy in 2004 for the 60th, did not pay for camping once. 2 people in relative comfort.)

The pic is our view from our beds on the eveing on 7th June 2004 over looking where Mulberry B used to be..
