  1. Hi Pete-The parts you've seen mounted on the Snow Trac front track guards are most probably spare sections of track-mine hasn't got any but most military versions do.In the event of a track breaking they can be bolted in place to effect a repair . I've not had the opportunity to try mine in really cold conditions so I can't say what the heating is like in those circumstances but normally I find that mine gets incredibly hot inside if I don't shut the vents & open up the roof light & the windows .There are seats for four + driver.Might get six at a push . The tracks themselves are rubberised canvas belts - virtually identical to that from which conveyor belts are made . Drive is from toothed sprockets on a transaxle at the front of the vehicle and engage directly with metal bars which are bolted to the inside face of the belts two to three inches apart.

    Regards ,

    Davie .

  2. Thanks Pete , always good to see those clips - looked at a couple of other links which showed an early model somewhere over here + the clips with the french commentary showing somebody very ambitious trying to climb a very steep hill - wasn't sure if it stalled or they broke the transmission !

Hope all is well with you

    Best wishes ,

    Dave
