Hi again John, I do remember those vehicles very well as we used to use them to hide in and around while training in Pontrilas The last 25 pounder was there up until the middle 90's I asked if I could have it they said yes at first but them quatermasters changed and that was the last I heard about it

Hi John,
I remember all those vehicles when I was at the camp in the early 70's but they were nearly all taken away before the end of the 70's. I wasn't an enthusiast then and didn't take much notice when they disappeared the last vehicle there was one of the 25 pounders which was still there in the late 90's but I expect that has gone too now

Hi, here are a couple of photos of Ferret 01DA20, I visited it a couple of months ago in Cirencester and had a chat with a visiting PSI there, he told me that someone was going to look at restoring it. I also had a good look at it, the turret was welded up but you could see in some holes down into it and it looks in a pretty bad state, some relatives of mine who live nearby told me that it is still on its plinth on the front gate, so nothing has been done with it up to now.

Ok folks,
a question, does anybody know of any 105mm Pack Howitzers in private ownership? I know Helston Gunsmiths had one for sale last year.
Also, are there any 105mm light guns in private ownership
All the best
Mark
Hi Mark, I was a member of 95 Commando Light Regiment, the sister regiment to 29 CDO.
I was travelling through Hereford last year when I noticed a vehicle pulling a trailer , when I looked into the trailer I saw a 105 stripped down ready for refurbishing. He was heading to the same place as me so I looked in and swapped a few war stories. So there could be a 105 somewhere in the Herefordshire area. The other place I saw one last year was outside the Royal Marine museum in Bournemouth. I hope this was any help to you.

Good evening all,
Im trying to put together a collection of Daimler Ferrets that served in Cyprus. I have two of my own, but to be fair they are obviously staged photographs. I would really like hear from anyone who may have served in the 70's when mine was having fun with the Gurkhas.
Kind regards,
Simon Dawson

I know how you feel Lee, 33BA53 is very close to mine 33 BA 64. It would really make my day to get a picture of it.
I shall scan in some copies if possible ASAP.
Thanks and Regards,
Mick.

Hi all,
If Ferret 33 BA 53 or 00 DC 12 are out there in private hands, I have a picture of each.
They are in service photos, and 00 DC 12 was taken in July 1963, whilst in Benghazi with the 14th/20th Kings Hussars.
I'm afraid I don't know much about 33 BA 53, it doesn't show much of the vehicle and it was obviously a posed shot but its a nice photo of the Ferret and crew.
I can get these photos reproduced if you want one, I would imagine it would cost about £6.50.
Thanks and Regards,
Mick.
Hi mick my father served with the 14/20th at that time, the 10th hussars took over Wavel Barracks afterwe left. If I remember rightly all the vehicles thats all the Ferrets and Saladins were being sold off to the Libian army. I remember them being paraded and looked over by the arabs as the British army was preparing to pull out of Libya at that time. Thats the year before I joined up.

Having recently had a run in with a Saracen, the centre bin of my ferret mk1 needs some TLC. Having heard that its impossible to get hold of a new bin I'm considering making a new one by salvaging what i can and making new bits as required. I was wondering if anyone has any experience of this or any drawings that i could use?
Also, out of curiosity, is it still possible to get hold of any of the other bins?
Chris
I have a centre and front left bin for sale in Hereford if anyone is interested.

For all those interested in the munitions factory in Hereford, there is a book all about the factory and its history sold in the local shops well worth reading, we have one at home.

Where did you get it from?
I don't know if it is still there but when I went there last there was a Ferret MK 1/2 for sale at a place called Shephards in Herefordshire. As far as I know it was drivable but needed a coat of paint. speak to the owner and make him an offer.
