  1. Hi Mike

sorry to hear about the hassle you have had to contend with,i suppose there is always a negative side to running a show.

Nice to hear of Dave Weedons input to the show it will be nice to have a Wynns T along with the rest of us,am really looking forward to this event, as it must be a first at any show to have so many Diamond T,s together and working together. Many thanks for making it possible.

    Regards Alan.

  2. Re Diamond T gutless..Think you need to talk to some of the old Wynns Heavy Haulage guys and see the old photos of T s working pulling twice the weight the old tank transporter boys were hauling to realise how good the Diamond T was.

Wynns certainly worked their T,s hard and got the best out of them with the original hercules engine , hard to understand them being gutless. The fitting of cummins engines gave them an extra lease of life to be able to cope with the ever increasing wieghts they had to handle.

  3. HI Alan

if your missing a good hercules knock as it starts, you must pop over to Macclesfield to

have a run in mine. Did you manage to get book in to Astle Park?

    cheers

    Maccdt

    Steve

Hi Steve will get over to Macclesfield when i get a weekend off so i can get a good diesel fix:D

I have not entered Astle Park as i am driving the T to Pickering steam rally the week before :drive: and then at the end of August driving it down to Dorset :drive::drive::drive:i do have to be available for work in between at weekends.

    Regards Alan.

Have you sorted the rolls yet ?

I Have a question. Has anyone taken the start foot switch apart? I am going to try and don't want to do any damage. Thanks David

Hi David if you need a starter switch i have one that came of my T, as i have simplified the starting to a push button on the dash. Regards Alan.

  5. hi maccdt, hope everything ok, am i right in saying the blue diamond is ex cazdow's heavy haulage fitted with leyland 680 and has been to dorset last couple of years, the lifting mechanism was designed by bil jackson formally of chaseside engineering famous for their cable operated loading shovels in the fifties, hope of interest, tony g.

Hi Tony i can confirm that the blue diamond is the ex cadzow t,it stayed in that same spot for years before i became involved with it,photo taken at Massy brothers yard Longcliffe Derbyshire.

  6. I think Arthur and I are in the same boat. Going to be a photo finish for Dorset! I can honestly see me finishing it on the day we leave!

Hi Adrian. finished or not your T will be admired for the quality of work you have put into it,also it will be part of what hopefully will be the largest gathering of 980-981 diamond T,s ever in preservation, making for a historic and fun filled event.

Are you driving yours to Dorset?.

    Regards Alan.

  7. Have just found a picture of your T, natty place to put the straight bar. Do you still have the Diamond T sign on the radiator grill?.At GDSF I suppose you can buy most items, do they have stalls for T owners?.

The dt sign is still there, not a genuine dt product i found it on a stall at a Malpass rally some years ago. The stalls at GDSF can turn up a few suprises, but no specific stalls for dt owners.

  8. 495 XUX . I will have a large selection of chocolates for everyone in diesel heavy haulage to sample ,see you there.

    Regards Alan.

You have a long drive down, how long will it take you & what does yours do to the gallon?

    Regards Dick Smith

In 2008 it took 6 3/4 hrs at 30 -35 mph. last year i split the journey over 2 days at 25 -30 mph towing showmans living van. Total driving time about 8 1/2 hrs ,the living van providing a comfortable rest over night. Fuel consumption is pretty good at 10 mpg but thats due to having leyland 680 power plus engine and leyland 5 speed + overdrive box coupled to original 3 speed auxillary box.

  9. :drive:QUOTE=diamond 981;261625]I think there are at least ten expected at dorset, mike will have exact number ,you are welcome to ride in mine .
    .

Many thanks for the offer, just bring along the Chocolates, (free samples of course). You will have to let me know which T I should be looking for, I have never been to GDSF before, I hope to leave home at about 6am, should get to the ground about 8am & find a good parking space then into the ground at 9am, when the gates open, thats if all things go to plan, see you there.

    Regards dizzy-t:drive:

  10. Hi MACCDT Driving the T down to Dorset again 400 mile round trip but i do enjoy the journey at the slower pace of 30mph. Was hoping to get to 1000 engine rally at Astle Park Chelford with the T ,but have left it too late to enter. Will try and get in at steam rally at same location.

Will keep eyes and ears open regarding Rolls C6, some railway preservation groups may be worth a try as i believe the C6 was used in small industrial shunting diesel locomotives.

    Regards Alan
