Hi, I'm looking for a ferret to restore.  Any condition/type, also spares wanted. Could also be interested in a Saladin or Saracen. If you think you have something private message me and I will get back to you. Thanks, Jim.

You still interested in my unfinished ferret? Pop over to Monmouth to view. Must shift.

    Hi Paver007,

I am still looking for a Ferret, Saladin and Saracen, however I see your in the USA and I am in the UK.  Thanks though.

I have begun a tear down on Mk2/3 but for a number of reasons am thinking of selling as is - any interest?

  3. The manual says "BOLT, FLUID PASSAGE  BSP.F. , brass   3/8 in."    But this is greek to me . So I do not Know if this will give me the size of tap needed to clean up the threads. Any advice.? I presume BSP.F stands for: Parallel (straight) threads, British Standard Pipe Parallel thread (BSPP; originally also known as[1]British Standard Pipe Fitting thread/BSPF (Wiki).

  4. Just had a frantic hour getting the broken banjo bolt out of the fuel tank. On examination the threads could do with a recut. Would any of my learned friends know what tap size I need for this or should I just get a steel bolt and use that? If so what size bolt should I seek? Thanks as always for the great advice.

  5. Now I have removed everything in the fighting compartment I am ready for internal paint. Any idea where I can source the silverish paint and where I can source the external paint for the body and the blue paint for the engine/transmission? Some phillistine seems to have painted the external surfaces with a weird paint which is peeling off showing a dull olive green with black areas. It is a mess, will probably burn it off now all fuel is removed. Thanks.

  6. Thanks, I now have the fuel tank very loose and have been able to bring it forward by around 4 inches and now it simply will not move any further forward despite clearly being loose. It will move back to original position. I am certain nothing remains attached to the tank. Can anyone advise what may be the problem?? What am I missing here??

Hello, I am pulling the tank. Turret out the way. Did you remove all the electrical kit on the RHS (when looking at tank inside of the fighting compartment) of the compartment. I am considering changing to electrical fuel pump but will double check the existing mechanical pump. Was there anything particularly problematic about the removal? Thanks Peter

Worked it out. Just 2 bolts at each front corner. Fair bit of mucking about to get stuff out of the way but have it in the fighting compartment. Now waiting for some young muscles to help lift it out and then I'll give it the POR 15 treatment. Certainly looks (and smells) pretty evil at present, so I'm glad that I "bit the bullet"!

  8. Thanks for that correction! Looks like I am going to have to pull the tank as the broken part is just not budging. So turret off... does anyone know what it (the turret) weighs?? Would a farm tractor bucket be able to lift it?

    A mod of the mod!

Couldn't find brass tube so bought a couple of joiners:

Very light run with the lathe to trim the threads down enough for a tight fit, then hit them in with a hammer. Didn't solder or braze because they're so firmly in that I don't reckon they'll ever budge.

    Et voila!

Edited: Not so smart after all! The hole in the tank steps in, so you need a straight tube to fit it in. Trimmed the fitting on the lathe. Think I'll put a thin bead of JB Weld but they're hammered in a tight so probably don't need it.
