  1. Sorry

but is it titled I maybe stupid, but...

Directly behind the eyelet is a cylinder (damper) I can push it in,

I assume it is some form off buffer off the back as you say it has an

arrangement that pushes on the handbreak mechanism if it goes

to far. I assume this is the over run brakes.

    Hope this helps. :)

  2. Tartan Tanks, have a chieftain, they are in Inverurie is that close.

Please remember MBT tanks are not allowed on public roads in the

uk without special prior arrangement. If this demo is not on private

land you could find yourself & the tank owner in big trouble.

  3. And they say we have a throw it away culture ?, wear it into the ground more like.

Soldiers have always moaned about british army clothing. But other than being bloody itchy some times, its very good. Some TA Stores (always got the regular army hand me downs) quite often still add the 1970's combat smocks etc, bit tatty but still in good working order.

You can't move for army surplus stores now days, stock up now & in 20 year time you can sell it on for a fortune ??.

  4. As I remember it was about fighting old dragons, I don't know what the problem was I do that on a daily basis ?? :D:D.

Funny seeing a British tank being commanded by a crazy American but then thats the movies for you, had a stalwart in it to.

You got yourself a bit of a monster their, step up from a fox no doubt. 8)

  5. That is a lovely looking fox, can I pick up the accessories at Marcus Glenn ???.

I remember Reign of Fire, Never understood why an american convoy had so much british kit ??.

Have you still got a fox in the UK ?.

  6. If their is one thing I can promise you is that no one ever fired

the rarden cannon other than over the front arc of the vehicle,

actually some one probably did it once & I would not have wanted

    to be them.

  7. Max speed was always a hot issue with fox crew's, on road runs it was the gunners job to take a photo of the speedo if the driver thought he was doing particularly good.

I have seen photos of a very wobbly needle at 10 MPH the driver claimed it was his second time around ??? ( it was down hill though).

75 Yes, 95 at the bottom maybe ?, but this would be 110 MPH !!!!. I think once your past the end of the speedo its accuracy starts to drop off.

There is no doubt though that they are S**t of a shovel

What we need is a long straight road, anyone know any abandoned runways Chris ??.

  8. Fox's arn't half as dangerous as they say, Yes they can do crazy speeds on the motorway & past 70mph the steering does start to feel light, anyone who tries to give you an accurate speed is guessing as the speedo doesn't go up that high.

In my 8 years of service experience with fox, I have never seen one roll over as long as you respect them they are safe. We had one slip off the edge of a track in germany, it slipped sideways for more than 30 yards down and embankment of over 50 Degrees without rolling & could still be

    driven down into the valley.

Safe yes, reliable well thats a different story.

  9. I would have thought 2 or 3 copies would be more in order, its not every day people get their works proffesionally published.

I particular like the bit about gut instinct & taking people at face value. It took me a while and a lot of help to finally find a fox. Along the way I

came across some Diamond Geezers :D & some Real Crooks . I think the longer this stays as a hobby & not a business the better for all.

  10. That's very worrying, I was looking into buying a CVRT in a year or two & was interested in the Sabre as it seemed a natural progression from the fox.

Like you friend, I have been saving up in dribs & drabs and cannot afford to shell out the asking prices for the stored vehicles. I suppose Withams knows what the future market for Sabre is & thinks there sitting on future Scorpions & that there prices will just keep on going up at least until Scimitar comes on the market which is most probably a long way away.

I sure you can source the engine & dampers for your friend, but I must agreed £4.5K is a lot of money for an incomplete project vehicle.

Best of luck if you find a bunch save one for me.

  11. Although I'm relatively new to MV ownership, I have been going to Beltring for years.

When I go I'm always amazed by how much US WWII kit there is ?, far more than any British or German. OK so the Germans lost the war, (no offence to any German members) so I can assume a lot of the kit was destoryed or became unservicable due to lack of parts.

But why the lack of British kit were they run into the ground, or all just put on the ranges.

  12. That's a Big shame chris :(

I haven't seen much written on CVR(T) recently, so to have someone publish before you is really bad luck you must be

Still I suppose the good news would be if it goes out in the July/August editon, it will be out for Beltring & will get a lot wider viewing from their stand. :D

Best of luck finding that Sabre, Withams all Spartan this time go figure ??.

  13. Firstly big congrats to Jack on a brilliant feature on his GMC, "Virgin Soldiers". It had me gripped within the 1st two lines.

Also I see Chris's feature on the CVRT is due to come out in next months edition, I'm looking forward to reading that already.

Does anyone else want to own up to their literary talent ??

  14. I suppose I should think about it, compared to your trip its, like a run around the block  . Want to get rid of any little problems first, don't want to end up on the side of the road like that poor irish chap.
