  1. Well a long time ago, but it had all been kept up together for many years as we have seen the pics, but sadly as with a lot of stuff owners ither become ill or old but cant bare to part with things, we will post some more pics of the recovery of both of them over the next week.

Well after leaving home at London Bridge 05:30, picking up Ross in Croydon, then on to Mikes at Gatwick to get the ERF, on to Roys arriving in the rain at 09:30, having a good catch up with Tony, loading up and a very very wet drive to War and Peace witnessing and great accident with a idiot in a Aston Martin on the A12 in the rain, then an hour in traffic to get across the Bridge we got to War and Peace at 15:00, and then 45 min on the train back to London Bridge getting in at 17:30, its been a fun day and about 370Km, will do it all again week after next to take the Autocar home, Its been quite and adventure since we first meet Roy at War and Peace 3 years ago and on that visit to Beks when he decided he wanted the Autocar, and then meeting Tony as well, I know i say this for me Mike and Vince the trips to Paris and meeting you both have been a lot of fun and glad we have helped in a small way..... If your that serious about getting and using RB and using it in the LEZ, first throw away the Perkins (not a bad idear anyway if you have one in anyhting) and fit a nice 4 cylinder Cumming B will only be about 8 or 9 grand for a new one :nut:, or mabe one of the late 4 cylinder B's out a Dennis Dart bus there up to euro 3 now, if you can find one that isert shagged out, that would be a few grand less, but i have to agree with Mike, its much better to lobby for rolling 25 year exeption then try and find loop holes, and before anyone thinks im trying to be funny about changing engines, i have been involved in several engine up grades to make verious old bits of scrap useable

  4. Well all new rear tyres are on, thanks goes to the guy at Southern tyres at Small Dole who did not flinch when we turned up this morning with all the wheels and tyres, he just said "Oh this always happens to me" so we left him to it and went to the cafe in Shoreham.

    Please note the realy rotton bit of manky railway sleep that Nick was using for safety in the finest tradition of heavy vehicle engneering, also the tool i made for stud removal, its crude but effective.

    yes its took a few days,,, we had a couple of 2 hour sessions untill we couldnt use our hands any more, please see movie, link on my last post, and Nick would have the odd 30 mins at the tyres with the smaller studs most days over the last week when he was at a loose end

     

    Where off to get them fitted tomorow,,,

    Im Nick John's partner in crime when it comes to Berliet wreackers, and old mate to a few others on here

     

    Im LGV and PCV engineer driver and instructor of 21 years

     

    Have been involved with old rot boxed and scarp yard dodgers for all of that time, have already owned 1940 Scammell Pioneer and a Scammell Trunker. Have looked after other peoples and organizations old horrors for most of that time as well helping with some terrible recovery jobs from all over europe, but i cant seam to get away from jobs like that.

     

    The Berliet has to be one of the most civilized machines of its age i have come across, unlike both of my Scammell's, and yes i,m jaded and cynical :cool2:

     

    Have a look at the movies on youtube of the recovery and re erection , more work to do but noting serious
