Not quite on track but does anyone else still have there armband on???

My son William still has his on !!

My daughter is still wearing hers. A couple of years ago it lasted nearly two months. :)

  2. What a brilliant display that was too! Three really nice vehicles commemorating an almost forgotten campaign but a bit hidden away in Kitchener's Field - you really should have been in the modern 'non digging' Living History bit of the show!

Thank you Peter. We chose to go in Kitchener's Field because we had caravans for the wives and children's comfort. Nethertheless, we were disappointed to end up with public camping right opposite us, despite us having friends with MV's who arrived the previous day, who started to set up, then were moved on by the marshals. Our group travelled a maximum of ten miles to put on the display. We really felt for the couple who travelled from Germany to spend three days putting up the East German border display that nobody really saw. Perhaps this is something that needs addressing for future shows. We have twice as many Suez era vehicles in various stages of resoration for next year. Glyn

  3. Luckily i willbe moving to within 2 miles of the new venue! I should be able to get my rust bucket there! :cool2:

I noticed that the whole of the racecourse is open! will Rex be fitting security fencing around the whole place including the camping area, otherwise its will be unsecure and open for our friend the pikies to come and visit.

If I stand on my workshop roof I can see the racecourse. The vehicles should just be getting up to temperature as I arrive. :cheesy:

  4. Just a surgestion Rex could arrange a drive around the feilds for the public say on a MJ bedford with seats in the back Canvas rolled up for a small fee they could drive around all the feilds say 1 trip per 1 1/2 hours all day long this will give the public a good look at all the show.

Cracking idea. They do something similar at Dover Castle with a land train which consists of a Landy with multiple carriages behind. This works well because the site (Dover) is so large, albeit much smaller than Beltring.

Perhaps the insurance costs could be reduced by operating the tug vehicle at 5mph, which is supposed to be the site speed limit, which would give the general public time to view the displays.

  5. Whist attending a local show. We took the Ferret for a blast around Canterbury ring road on a Saturday Evening a few weeks back. We got followed by a police ARV with 4 up for about a mile before they stopped us. After checking that the ferret was insured ('cos I had forgotten to refit the civvy reg plates) The nice policeman asked if he could have his photo taken with the vehicle.

One copper taking photos, one in the turret and two hyenas in the back of the police car..... Traffic backed up in both directions.:-D

Then my commander askes for directions to the nearest bank. He waits for the copper to start giving directions before replying "These make terrific ram raiders, you know"!

Cops told us to bugger off, never mentioned that we had the 30 cal uncovered too.

  6. Kevin Lowden (the owner of the 110 defender) and myself (the owner of the sand coloured S2A airportable) are happy that the members of this forum have the opportunitity to discuss this subject at length. We doubt if anyone would have had this freedom of speech if were not for our past and present armed forces, that have fought for the privilage of free speech. This freedom of expression surely extends to how individuals portray their vehicles. We are more than happy to discuss objectively any accessories fitted at any of this years events. This in no way admits that we are wrong, we just don't care!

  7. Hello all from sunny Sellindge in Kent.

I have been doing a bit of an overhaul, respray and re-badge on the 2/4 ferret over the last week or so.

It seems that the brakes were worse than expected, so it will be tight to get it ready for this weekends shows.

I do have a really nice guy called Richard working on the brakes for me though... So we should get there.

    Best wishes to all
