  1. Hi all,

I have a slightly unorthodox question.

Near to me is the site of a US Navy storage depot that was built in 1944, which was very important in supplying equipment the US Navy needed for D-Day. Some discarded items can still be found on the surface, and I have found a couple of the engine valves pictured. I found one valve that I have been able to identify as coming from a Willys jeep, but I found a couple which are of unknown vehicle origin. Can anyone help ID what vehicle/engine this valve would have come from, please? It would be a great help in building up the picture of what was stored at the depot.

    It is made of chromium steel, and measures;

    Height - 124mm - 4 7/8"

    Head diameter - 32.2mm - 1 1/4"

    Shaft diameter - 8.5mm  - 5/16"

Marked on the bottom is 'GM 41 EX', which I assume is General Motors and 1941?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Simon

  2. Hi all,

What an interesting thread, which I have now bookmarked!

I have a few more current items with new contract codes, which I can help add to the list. They are all the same garment:

    'Gloves, Contact Combat (Aramid)'

    Contract no. DC/04048 dated 2015.

    Contract no. LSL/DC/0032 Dated 2018.

Contract no. LSL/DC/0078 dated September 2020.

I have some post 2015 dated 'odds and sods' somewhere, I'll have to dig them out and add the contract numbers if I can.

    Best regards,

    Simon
