  1. hi everyone

    we have two albion cx22s

    own for around twenty years

the red one we finished last year

all the history i know is it was used by kays of stoke commercial truck dealers.

the yellow one we have now started to do

the injection pump was siezed try to free the elements inside and ended up breaking one

found a new old stock pump which was lucky

in process of stripping down ready for blasting

also remaking the front wings (nightmare)

made the top half of cab the other year

the same time we made the red cab

Some Nice photos there paul, I had the cab rebuilt as well ,,,,it was my dad done it,out of ash and a little teak. The yellow Albion is she now running?,The inside of the cab in her the dash etc looks good.

I got head gaskets for my own one a while back, I tought I'd have a hell of a job trying to source them.

The 8x8s are odviously new and perhaps one day will be on somebodys to do list to be restored:nut: :-D, Irish army owned :yawn: weighing 17500 KG -17 1/2 ton althou I find that hard to believe :-\ !

  7. I know there have been a few posts around this subject, but, I may have just hit a deadend here.

I sent off a v888 (I think it was) which gives the DVLA's knowledge of the history of the vehicle, hoping that the mil reg may have been used at some point during its registration for civvy street.

The info has come back that it was sold by A F Budge Ltd in 1994 with the following info.

    mil. sale no. 69MS57,

mil reg is given as unknown.

The chassis no. is ALV915 (which is stamped on the escape hatches too.)

Alvis saracen ACV AFB 132 (stock number?)

    Engine no. 6A/L 02130

According to a letter from the DESO, MOD, the saracen has a date into service on June 1959.

It was then sold to a Dr Elton A Eckstrand of Ayrshire, then to the M Q Trust of Gravesend, then onto the previous owner to me.

Does anyone know of a way forward from here? Maybe I can narrow it down to an individual contract with the date in service?

Thankyou for any help, much appreciated.

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

John here, I think I'm in the same situation as you :yawn:, I'm trying to find out information on an Albion Lorry I have, I have all her military details but where can I go with it.Is it possibly to find out more (when she was put into service and where she has been with the army etc). Any suggestions as to who I could turn to next.(archives etc):-)

    Albion CX22

Chassis No WD census No Post-War No

    63717B H5191524 12 RD 79

    Looking forward to your reply,

    John

  8. If I've got them, they are yours, but will be two or three weeks 'till I can check. I'll let you know in due course.

    Dear sir,

Thank you for your reply and I'm looking forward to hearing from you in the future about the shields, Today I sprayed the bonnet and will have a photo up here soon,

P.S If you find them can you send a photo and how much (in cash or cheque)

    Thanking you,

    John :-):-):-):-)

  9. I think I may have a spare set of them, but can't be 100% sure till I check. All my stuff is spread far and wide at the mo, so will be two or three weeks till I know for sure.

    Dear sir,

I have sent you another message but I think I messed it up so here it is again,

About those side shields, if there spare is there a chance you might sell them if so how much (in cash):-),you might let me Know if you have them or not in due course and perhaps a photo so I know what they look like if I'm to make them :cool2:

    Thanking you,

    John

  10. I can't answer that, but someone on here should be able to put you on the right track. If you give me the army number I'll see if it on my list for the original RAF registration.

I don't have her number with me at the moument but her chassis number ( 10573)

is listed as an RAF Contsructor

P.S I'll try to get her reg tomorrow :-)

    Thanking you

  11. Good to see progress. My wings are in a similar state to yours. Not looking forward to them!

Is your windscreen frame brass? My original ones were steel, totally rotten, luckily two lovely brass ones were supplied with the truck when I got it.

Yes the windscreen frame is brass but with steel corners :cool2: I am missing a bit of the wind screen for the passengers side at the bottom but I'll splice in something else :-D,you were very lucky to get them wind screens :-\ today I finshed with the windscreen at the drivers side and now all it needs is glass.:-D

I'd like to see a photo of your albion if it would'nt be any trouble ,have you got side shields as I missing mine and I'm going to try making them

    Thanking you,

    John

  12. I think the secret will lie somewhere in the site below:

    www.british-army-units1945on.co.uk/39EngineerRegiment.aspx

Look at 1966 onwards, as that was the date the RAF Airfiled Construction Branch was disbanded and Constructors transferred to Royal Engineer regiments who took over airfield construction responsibility.

If there is any way you can find the Army Registration number that would be ideal. There does not seem to any reliable way of working out which registration number went with which chassis number.[/QUO

I have The army reg as its stamped on the chassis at the passengers sid(on a Plate) I think

How do I go about looking up her history then :nut:

  13. Anybody know what this Front grile is off, it was on my Albion CX22 and will go back on but its not the right one I was thinking that theres a piece of a leyland martian grile spliced in there :D Any sujestions welcome :cool2:

    Thanks!

  14. *Likes photo's, don't be long!*
