I found a copy of Munitions of War, BSA and Daimler on-line at the University of Calgary Library.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to download the entire book, but could read it page-by-page.  Thus I was able to copy about 30 pages of material on Thornycroft vehicles by copying one page at a time.  This is not as tedious as it sounds and took me only about 15 minutes.

Hi all, trying to identify this wheel hub. JB. On a circa 1950's/60's trailer. unsure if military but I am confident that the knowledge base on this group may have come across it. Many thanks.  

Right here we go. I did email Mr. A. Brown to try and get a location. But like all good treasure stories, false clues, a bit of jackanory, blah blah blah. Meanwhile, I did follow up the Auction Catalogue reference, which is thus;
