  1. Hello everyone,

May well be a long shot but I was hoping you may be able to point me in the direction of a Queen Mary Trailer Axle for a project I am working on? Desperately after the axle assembly with coil spring etc?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated even whole trailers that might be too far gone that I can use for parts. Thanks in advance!

  3. The NM Mack should run a standard 6 volt coil.

Being war time vehicle as much as possible was interchangeable with other US vehicles.

6 volt Jeep coil will work fine.

That model Mack had 12 volt supplied to the coil and starter while cranking and then when the motor started running it went back to 6 volts.

Two batteries used with a series / parallel switch for change over for starting.

12 volt though a 6 volt coil just while cranking the motor for a short time will not hurt it.

Thank you very much for your help!

  4. Hello All,

We are currently looking for a certain type of trailer. We have been told that they were built during the war by Hands but aside from that cannot seem to find anything more about them? Any help and information would be greatly received and if by chance anyone has any of these lying about then we would be very interested! They are quite recognisable by the bracing underneath, we have made use of this on ours for a belly box. I have attached a photograph of one of ours below.

    Regards

  5. Some US equipment (particularly crawlers and other tractors) were provided to the Ministry of Supply and were then issued to War Ag and other outlets.

I owned an Mack that had come across in 1940 and had been used along with 9 others in a quarry in Oxfordshire.

I would venture, however, that yours came to be in civilian use after having been used by the Army. You should be able to find out from the chassis number and asking the RLC museum.

Has it still got its original engine?

    Hello,

Do you know what happened to your Mack? Is it still on the circuit? Yes ours still has the original petrol and it runs like a sewing machine!

  6. There is another NM in Lincolnshire but this is fitted with Holmes wrecking gear and a Scania engine

When I get home I will see if I can dig a photo out

Okay thanks, would be great to see any others!

  7. There are a few NM's in the county. I think Alan Oxborough has one that he is currently refreshing. Also an ex-snow plough. I'm not sure if he is on here but I can put you in touch with him if you want. He also has a well known Diamond T.

    Cheers

    Hello Edd,

Would very much appreciate being put in touch!

    Thanks

  8. Hello everyone,

We have recently purchased a Mack NM-7 and would love to know more about its history. We have been told that our vehicle was supplied during the war to Rutland Council, Great Britain for use as a snow plow on the lend lease scheme. The council have kept and maintained it all its life with the vehicle seeing very little use and is therefore in exceptional original condition. In more recent years until purchased by myself it was placed on display in the council museum. We have been struggling to find any other Mack NMs in the country so would love to hear from anyone that has one or could tell us a bit more about these fantastic vehicles! Would very much like to track down any spares for this vehicle as we do intend to use it. If anyone could point us in the right direction for some 10.00 x 22 tyres that would be ideal!

    Best Wishes
