Thanks for the replys guys the bill of sale is from Georgia USA and that all matches the serial so your saying fill out a v888 form and hope for the best if not then storm back to the chap I bought it off and demand my money back

time to add some more to this tale

the jeep has been delivered the body appears to be '43, bonnet, seats radiator and some other pieces slat grill. axles and other bits unconfirmed yet, as mentioned before chassis plate has gone just 2 rusty pins left. the tub plates are original but are for a slat grill 113***. NOVA form has the incorrect vin on 1132*** and when I emailed them to say there was an error on the NOVA form I got this reply

"It would appear that the vehicle is already on the NOVA system with the correct VIN i.e, 113***. It was applied for by the original importer.

The reason we were able to put it on and the fact it didn't come up as already on was due to the incorrect VIN being included.

In this instance, you would just go ahead and register the vehicle. The DVLA will not require a NOVA reference because it will already show up on the system."

I have had confirmation as to this jeep existing in the UK in the 70's is it still in the UK? or was it exported?

to say im worried is to say the least I was looking to restore this to a slat grill I have found a original body to repair but im worried about spending any time or money on this project

Brilliant the chap gets back from holiday Thursday so fingers crossed I can go double check everything is in order and collect it, il be sure to start a thread on my restoration aswell thankyou for your help it's put my mind at ease

Thanks for your help guys, I've been told it has a bill of sale and the nova form has been sorted on import it has the original dash plates and a repro set to replace them as there pretty rough

Right I've just put a deposit a 1942 willys MB in quite rough condition this does not worry me what worries me is the chassis ID plate has perished and fallen off from corrosion leaving only the rivets behind It has the dash plate and it's mostly original is the chassis ID the same as the tub? will I have problems when it comes to registering it with the dvla? Any help would be appreciated

Well a busy weekend for me, well a busy Saturday perks of working outside I suppose. But its running!. a couple of hours fiddling around getting the exhaust bolted tight, double checking everything. Then a further hour scratching my head trying to work out why it wouldn't turn over, to find a retro fitted relay between the ignition solenoid feed. Which I have not idea what it does, ripped that out and away it went.... well after 6 or so 5 second bursts to say i'm chuffed is an understatement.

all work now is towards to MOT

No Actually many Winterised waders were Royal Marines But mine being just a Winterised Variant spent most of its Time in the Royal Artillery and AMF-L (where it was painted white and had UN markings)

The Sa80 mount seems to be very un-common and the one of the Dash was actually recalled due to head injuries in accidents but this Defender was Cast before any of these changes were made

So long time no updates, but I haven't been sitting idle I've just been lazy and not updated the thread

With the doors all welded up I got them mounted. A bit of fun and games and 4 arms needed but I got them aligned

I then started on the interior. Got the dash in

And some of the electrics behind the seat

Then moved onto the seat box

And then the hardura interior this was a job in its self. The old interior had severe dry rot and all had to be binned so I purchased some new hardura but was unable to get it foam backed, so I had to purchase felt backed and with a sharp scrapper remove the felt and glue on the foam. To make the interior look original I cut of the original beading and fixed it on and I have to say works great.

With it all stuck down I couldn't resist getting the seats out for a mock up

I also finished off the battery box with new insulation, sanded the original wood floor and bought a new battery clamp so the batteries won't bounce up and down like before

Now all my oils have arrived hopefully have it running very soon!

I've been trying to get large bulky items out of the summerhouse as space in there is premium and I've not been very popular with it being packed with Land Rover parts for the past 8 months. So this weekend I was sanding and preping the front wings and bonnet and stripping the doors ready for welding

There only loosely fitted at the moment I still have some engine bits to do

I didn't get much time at all this weekend but I did manage to get some of the engine ancillaries in and connected slowly getting towards a running engine but I must move onto the doors soon

Had a busy couple of weeks. I got the sides and roof sanded and a quick coat of paint Then bolted them all up.

I'm not happy with the sprayed camo so once the it's all together in hand painting it all with bush painted camo

I also put the bulkhead loom back in...... God I forgot how many wires there were! I took God knows how many photos but there's still not enough

Almost there now I think my next job is the doors to secure the the cab and allow me to put all the dash back in

This weekend I've been working hard on the pedal group these has suffered quite badly from trapped mud collecting behind them so we're quite badly rusted outside, but a good wire brush and a good clean and prep by POR15 and they look good as new

I also cleaned the transfer box fitted it and fitted the prop shafts

Now all the welding a done I cracked out the POR15 and gave it a liberal coat, once that semi dried I got the nato green out and gave it a nice thick coat. Then with the misses help I got it all bolted on I finally feel like I'm making progress!

I had the day off today and decided today would be a good day to make some progress.

I cleaned the last parts of the gearbox and fitting the clutch

Next I got the engine crane out and mounted the gearbox and tightened it all up

Next I went onto the bulkhead, the footwells were showing signs of light corrosion I could have just patched it but I thought better and replaced the whole panels. Unfortunately I could not find any the same with stiffener ribs so I just had to get plain flat repair panels and weld these in place. I still need to get so sheet steel to ad the flat plate stiffer we that goes inside the footwell

I finally got round to sanding the rear tub getting a quick coat of paint of the top and got the tub temporarily rested on the chassis, i've not gone over the top with the sanding still some brush/chipping marks though subtle still show its history

Gearbox, transfer box, prop shafts and then bulkhead all coming up very shortly

The rear tubs been getting in the way lately so I thought I'd progress with it enough to rest it on the chassis and get it out the way

The tub stiffners had quite a bit of bimetallic corrosion. I purchased some repair sections from YRM and I fixed these in place over the rot, put the members back across and primered it all. I couldn't find a match on original under colour so I've base coated it all and il have to find the original colour later

Made some progress in between the god awful weather, I've been renewing engine parts degreasing and renewing the paint

Ok so massive update

In the great weather last weekend I managed to finish off the axles and managed to get them unit the chassis with a little bit of help. I think the photos speak for themselves

Please forgive the state of the front wheels my paint delivery was late and missed the good weather

im now left with a rather large pile or 'scrap' and a lot of land rover parts spread across the home, garden, and shed. On the plus side my new galvanised chassis has arrived courtesy of Richards chassis and its now weathering so it will take paint in the mean time I have the axles to rebuild, radius arms, and various brackets while I wait. pics to follow

October 2014 I bought a winterised 90 in a very worse for wear condition. here it is on the day I collected it from south London

A quick walk around

After a year, MOT looming and noticing some spots that need welding. A rather leaky fuel tank, rear axle casing, gearbox transfer box, engine, roof bulkhead seal....everything really. I made the decision to take it off the road and rebuild it on a galvanised chassis, renew everything I can possible. reinstate all the interior, radios and weapon mounts and all the appropriate winterised extras.

my aim is to return it to its in service state before it was cast in late 90s. it was never updated with the newer seats, wolf wheels or safe weapon mounting.
