Hi all. Thought you,d like to see my newly transformed para recce land rover lightweight at the recent Woodvale rally show

Morning all. As an update, I presume it was sold, since the new owner is doing a fine job of restoring it at the moment. I'm attaching a shortcut to the restortation thread.

It looks as if it is very near to a L'wt I have had stored for many years (actually 18 yrs) , 52HG33 , Dis. Nov. 1980 I hope to get around to it soon ,,

There is one genuine Para Recce , I identified it several years ago.

 

1980 Para Recce Lightweight - 55 HG 98 , you will find photographs (in-service) in Mark Cook's Lightweight book.

 

I was given first option to buy about 2/3 years ago , possibly I should not have declined.

 

Interesting details extanct were the bracketry for the full width shelf tail-gate.

 

Uncertain if Rogan up in Renfrew kept it , he was not keen selling but had a motoring project abroad to finance, he may still have it garaged - I don't recall him advertising it.

Welcome in Maria. What a lovely lightweight. I'll bet you're forever picking bits of insects out of your teeth!

 

Just one slight correction though. There is one original para recce left, being restored by fellow militarylightweight forum member Neil. This is the one featured on page 112 of Mark Cook's book, "The Half Ton Military Land Rover".

Hello everyone. I have been a member of the MVT for over 10 years and during this time I have owned a 1980 lightweight landrover. For the last few years it was displayed as a Royal Marines in Norway vehicle as was painted green and white, but this year I decided on a change and wanted to do something completely different. What took my eye was the para Recce vehicles as apparently there were only ever 8 made and no originals are left. After a lot of research and many reference photos I have managed to recreate my version (with the help of a good friend) and am looking forward to taking her out to shows this season. As a woman in what can be seen as a male hobby I throughly enjoy the atmosphere and challenges of owning a military vehicle and have made many friends.
