its brass and yes off a horse drawn wagon. Hers a pic of a GS wagon with the plate missing 😀

just thought I'd share my nice metal detecting find from the site of a WW1 Canadian Army Service Corps headquarters - a rather nice "Wagon General Service" data plate from Nov 1915. It was found near the site of the former stable block.
