  1. Here’s a couple shots taken in I think 1994 in Normandy for the 50th anniversary. Much easier to run about for a baguette with a jeep while having the living space for the family.
  2. 1943 GMC CCKW 353 Finally letting go of our GMC after 32 years of ownership. This is a prize winning truck having won the T.I.T.S. (Tire Iron Truck Service) Trophy at the Beltring War and Peace Show. Its provenance is known to have served in Europe before being given to the Dutch Army on the Lend/Lease program. Subsequently it was purchased by Stanley Kubricks production team for the 1987 Film, Full Metal Jacket. I have also worked with the BBC running this truck up and down Kenley Airfield to record the engine sound at idle, running and full tilt. The truck is different from most as it has a Composite Cargo floor, therefore no rust unlike most steel tubbed cargo trucks, I would guess to haul ammunition. I also have the original screened distributor to go along with in the sale. It is on a full set of Uniroyal Bar Grips. Good strong running GMC 270 engine. 5 speed gearbox plus high/low box and selects all gears well. Wooden Steering wheel. Split Axles. Full Worthing Canvas ; tilt, back, seats and sidescreens. Various spare parts, accumulated over 30+ years. Kitted out in the back with kitchenette and sleeping areas as well as multiple enclosed storage compartments. Many years ago we decided to purchase a Willys Jeep to allow us to park up and go explore in the Jeep. To do this we built strong steel ramps that allow you to drive your Jeep up and in the cargo bed, all custom built and included in the sale. This also includes a 12v winch to pull it up if not brave enough to drive in/off. This is a high quality truck, mechanically as sound as they come. No weekend jump in and go heroes here, its been well looked after, dry stored, gets its yearly service and tightening and oiling as required to ensure maximum safety. Perhaps if you ask around, as its been around so long, many people will know of this truck. Reason for sale, I have other hobbies now that are a little smaller and easier for me to get in and out of. In 30 years this truck never let me down once! A great opportunity for someone else to have a go. Asking £16,000 and open to offers. If serious call me 07956558610
  3. It all started in 1988 when I bought this 1943 F15 (Type 13 Cab)I did alot of restoration work before other things took over, as they usually do. Before long I had to store the F15 at my brothers farm where over time some of that hard work was reversed. However, I've now brought her home and work will commence on restoring the rest of her and getting her to shows. Here's a clip of what my son, grand daughter and I did on the weekend.[video=youtube;4cmS-uDc1ts]
  4. Thanks for the warm welcome!I'm also, reluctantly, looking to sell my collection of military vehicles shortly starting with my Willys Jeep. I'll be posting in the "For Sale" section so hopefully I'll get some interest. I thought about Ebay but there are so many time wasters who ask really silly questions so I think this might be the best place? I'm not sure.ANway, thank you for welcoming me to the forum!Mark
  5. Hello all, My name is Mark Palmer, I've been restoring classic/vintage vehicles all my life. I Started with an MG PA, then on to a 1937 Singer LeMans and sold them to get married. I reluctantly bought an MG Midget, sold that and got a TR4A which I also ended up selling. Two children later and hefty mortgage I thought it'd be nice to get back in to old vehicles only to realise that the old vintage cars were out of my price range. An opportunity arose to buy a military vehicle and thats when the problem started. I bought a GMC 353 LWB in 1987, then a Ford F-15 followed by a Willys Jeep. I began attending military vehicle shows, was a member of IMPS in its infancy attending Beltring (War & Peace Show) from around 1988, organised the London to Brighton Military Vehicle run with Jim Fleet, visited all the haunts and memorials in France and Belgium and still own all the military vehicles I started with. It may be that I know or have met a few of you on here but to everyone hello and its great to be online embracing the technology... having said that I think my son will be maintaining and monitoring the majority of my posts/threads.
