  1. Is anyone familiar with Tony Sudds Army Green? I spoke to Warpaint about some paint for my 1945 Willys Jeep and it was recommended. Just wondered if anyone has a photo of this colour and whether its suitable?
  2. Thanks fellas, It looks like I've got some serious saving to do. After riding with a Hellcat at A&E whilst I was on my BSA I looked at the Milweb ad with great interest but $404k is a large chunk of money. Lovely tank though
  3. Thanks fellas, I think I'll use the eggshell stuff as a barrier and ask Warpaint about a suitable topcoat. Good work!
  4. Should light olive drab have an almost eggshell sheen to it? I'm only used to dark olive drab that was used on my BSA M20 and compared to that the lighter colour from Jeep Parts has a slight sheen to it. I thought it best to ask the question before I start painting!
  5. Does anyone know a ballpark figure to buy a working Stuart Light Tank? Do I need to open the piggy bank and search down the back of the sofa?
  6. Am I right in thinking that someone on Milweb was selling canvas paint? My seats are intact but beyond cleaning and wondered if anyone could recommend something to make them look like new again? Ta, Lee.
  7. I've found a pic of an MB that was made either the same day or the day before mine and is part of the 301st Fighter Wing at Okinawa in 1945. Sadly, the bumper markings are far from clear and I wondered if anyone could help with how the front and rear bumpers would have been marked. All that's left is part of a propeller marking to the left as you look at the front
  8. The glove box plate stamps look a bit clean for 67 years old so I thought I'd see if the dates are correct. Either they're new or have had the toothbrush treatment
  9. Is it possible to work out the exact time of manufacture from the chassis number or does it only relate to the year?
  10. Couldn't agree more. James at Dallas Autos described it perfectly over the phone, even mentioning bits that I might not have found. I then bought it 'as-is' and they still checked it over and replaced bits without me asking - top class service. No prizes for guessing where my money will be spent in future.
  11. I've yet to see it but from what I've read, I'm glad I bought the one I did!
  12. The Toylander arrived first followed by the MB a few months later. If only the big jeep was as cheap as the small one...
  13. Well, I took the plunge and bought a 1945 MB from the nice people at Dallas Autos. It was a smidge over my budget ( isn't that always the way...?) but thanks to the global economic melt-down, borrowing the money was cheaper than I'd imagined. The kids absolutely love it!
  14. Any tips as to which book(s) to buy for working on a Jeep? I see Haynes do a book but is it a traditional Haynes workshop manual or more a description/history exercise? Any help would be gratefully received. Lee.
  15. Sorry if this has already been raised a few times in the past, but I've had a quick search and I'm after an idiots guide to fitting indicators to a Jeep. LED's have been mentioned a few times but I'm wondering what size, how many per light and whether I'd have to scoop-out the inside of each light. I'd like to keep it as original as possible so minimal damage/disruption to the lights would be good. What doesn't help is my lack of electrical know-how and I have no idea if I'd need to fit a relay/magic box of tricks to get it all working. Also, buzzer or warning light on the dash? Think of it as explaining it to a primary school child and you'd be pretty close. All being well I'll be able to understand it!
  16. Any tips on Jeep security for those without a key? I've heard of removing the rotor arm but wondered if anyone has fitted an imobiliser or lock on the gear lever?
  17. I did spot a few that needed a full resto but not knowing a great deal about jeeps, I had little idea of the sums involved to get them ship-shape. Where is a good place to go jeep hunting? I've been on eBay and Milweb but am I missing any good sites? Ps I've also been on G503 with all of the stuff I've seen being from the states. Is there any UK stuff on there?
  18. In a previous post I asked a few questions about a CJ jeep but I can't help but think a wartime example is what I'd really like. Sadly, I don't have Alan Sugar's budget and at a push, I reckon £8K would be my absolute over draught-stretching limit for something that's taxed & tested and would require little more than some minor cosmetics. The big question is, am I a few years too late to pick one up for that amount or should I keep looking?
  19. Thanks chaps. Amy idea how much a reasonable CJ3A project might fetch?
  20. Thanks Bob. Is the CJ3A a civilian model or would it have seen post war military service?
  21. I'm looking at a jeep or 2 with a possible project in mind, however, I know very little about them at the mo. One of them has a data plate CJ3A1-1775 and I wondered if anyone knew what year and model it is? Any other info would be great, Ta.
  22. Thanks Doug, sounds like a good do. Here's hoping the weather is ok.
  23. Does anyone know where I can find a few more details on the Enham Alamein event which, I believe, is on 20/21st October? I Googled it but found very little so far.
