I am sorry to say the Committee has decided that due to several years of bad weather over the past shows and the country's current financial situation, they are to charge MVT / imps members the current public rate.

I would just like to say in defence this is the first time they have charged MVT members for many many years.

Cheers for answer, Russ............free entry was a nice touch, but totally understand reasoning behind decision to discontinue practice,....

Maybe's see you about on the sat. :)

All the best,

I'm hoping to make one day of this show, probably Sunday or Monday. No idea what to expect as it will be my first solely military event as opposed to air show with vehicles also present! Will be fully armed - with cameras!

I think you need to define that the charge is only as a pedestrian. No charge for entering a MV.

At the other show, I don't think a pedestrian waving a MVT/IMPS card at Beauleau staff will meet with much success.

Good point.

To clear up this point if you enter your military vehicle, or you are a trader you get free entry to the show for all days.

If you arrive on one of the show days as walking in public you have to pay.

Hi Clive,

Unfortunately you are mis informed, as Trucks and Troops is an MVT National Show you do get free entry on production of a valid MVT membership card.

So waving it at the Beaulieu staff will meet with much success.

Free entry to a great show, stalls and numerous arena events including the battle of britain memorial Hurricane, Palace House, National Motor Museum, Extensive Gardens, Secret Army Exhibition, Monorail and bus rides, James Bond experience, Restaurant and shop.

I though it was a South Hampshire Area Event.. isn't Kemble the National Show  it's the only one listed as a National Show...

Well that's good news for pedestrian MVT members. Is that new for this year or has it always been the case at Beaulieu?

I'm sure the Museum is an additional attraction for many. I went round it last year when displaying at a police car rally & a commercial vehicle rally. But to my mind it is top heavy with fast cars & that sort of thing rather than more interesting things like PSVs & MVs!

In fact I shall be displaying at Beaulieu next weekend on a MVT stall, which I believe is primarily promoting the troops in trucks show at the end of the month. :)

I see from the Entry form there is a curfew,no one in or out on foot or vehicle after 11pm.Also we are to be respectful to his Lordship for allowing the use of the site,

Now call mw old fashioned ,but i have lunch once a year at the House of lords

with his lordship as he is Honoray member of the Nelson Boat owners club.

I will ask him about this as it doesnt seem like something he would be worried about, seeing as we are atracting a large number of paying visitors.

Or is this a badly worded entry by the organisers,And i dont see it as a National MVT event at all.no doubt they would like to be.when i read this sort of rubbish it just makes me want to give it a miss,Champ camp or not

giving it second thoughts.:argh::argh::argh:Do me a favour MVT have some consequencial thoughts about the way you word stuff. Its simple we spend loads a money to get there, the site owners fleece the public ,who have come to see us.And by the way the first year we came, the canteen wasnt open for breakfast, doh, only the dodgy burger bar.The canteen closed early for dinner.if you wasnt in the queue before 1.30 tough.Lets hope 2yrs down the line its better.Oh by the way if your going,no need to go out,you got all you need laid on in the evening,at a price.

Sorry phill you may have to be one champ short :argh::argh::argh:

HORNDEAN HORNDEAN HORNDEAN:goodidea::thumbsup:

the overlord show was graet and thank you to everone who helped me with my pig. i got some good advice and learnt a lot, thank you clive, nice one.. but just a quick gents one why do we have 2 shows on at the same time. its madness, have them on different wkends, then the shows will be bigger and better with more people being there. more for the public to see.

This year, the MVT tour started from the Beaulieu show. Next weekend there will be a lot of IMPS vehicles, and about another 50 more MVT ones going to Normandy on their respective tours, through Portsmouth on the Monday. The Horndean show could have picked up more entries if it had been the following weekend. A missed opportunity.

I attended Overlord 2009 today (unfortunately the only day that I could make it) and was very pleased by the welcome - I'm not a military vehicle owner, purely an interest and photographer! Many thanks to the guy doing the commentary on the final parade for letting me have access inside the arena so that I could get some nice angles.

I was very impressed with the line-up of vehicles, though I understand that there were many more which had left by today which was a shame (though understandable with them catching ferries etc). Once I've converted all the photos, I'll do a review on here with a link to the full set on my site - it'll be a few days as there are 500 shots to go through - if you had a vehicle there today (Monday) there will be at least one shot of it appearing!

I'd make one suggestion to the organisers ref the website. When Joe Public want to attend events like this and check out the website for details, one thing they would like to know is how much it will cost them. That is something I couldn't find anywhere on the event web pages! Very reasonable entry cost though! Being used to airshows, I am used to entry prices of £15 plus so to find that this was a day out for £6 was a nice surprise!

Just got back form the Overlord show and I must say it was one of the best ive attended for a long time. Great mixture of vehicles, classic cars and re enactment displays. I even managed to pick up a few bargains as well from the many military traders there. Simon do you have any shots of the battle in the arena? as I was on the mortar crew. Well done to the organisers.

Yes got a big sequence on the battle. I was shooting from between the ice cream van and the commentary area so was able to get good side on shots of you guys. Have caught the smoke from the tube nicely. Look out for them in the review when I get all the pics sorted. (The reason for the delay in doing this is not only the large number of images from the day but also the fact that I shoot RAW so have to convert them all before posting them!)
