abn deuce Posted March 29, 2009 Author Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) A short story about the dedicated group of Nebraskans who greeted and gave a smile and a sandwich or Donut or cookies and support to countless Military serviceman during WWII as the trains stopped for ten minutes that passed though North Platte Nebraska headed for either coast . Even with war time rationing the area farm families gave of their produce to feed each of them. Meaning the sugar and chocolate among other items had to be found some how to supply the baked goods , that the gas and tires also needed to be stretched to bring the volunteers and supplies to the station everyday for four and a half years . Something went wrong... Edited March 29, 2009 by abn deuce Quote
