It would not be a conversion, there were several tractors made, one of the rare configurations of the Chevy. The trailer brakes were electric, the control was mounted on the frame and was activated by a rod that was attached to the push rod going to the master cylinder, and the rheostat was in rte dash.

Perhaps Pat Ware might consider posting that wonderful picture of a whole convoy of these Chevys from his book Red Ball Express on here, for the benefit of those across the water?

One pic (unidentified location) shows W-338013

The Red Ball pic shows USA 3296773-S of 3014TC, which is how the Chev artic formerly at the Hop Farm was painted!

From the same book we learn that these Chev artics were originally intended for the Far East (possibly the lightly laid Burma Road?) but were diverted to Red Ball duties instead.

The truck is pretty standard but i am very interested in that semi trailer its not one i have seen before and i would like to find out its purpose, as usual half of the interesting bit is cut off. Deep in the bowls of my archive i have a late 1940s TM data book so will check this out for info
