Jack Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 OK - so now that I have grabbed your attention. Purely as a paper exercise - what would the interest be if we were to buy some land in Normandy - a place that everyone could go to and camp throughout the year? A base. It would have over a period of time, shower block, loos etc etc. All official and paperwork signed and sorted. You/we paid for a legal share that would self fund the purchase. If you wanted out then your share holder could/would be sold on. Not to concerned at the cons at this stage as it is a 'paper exercise' but more interested in demand/interest. Your thoughts. Cheers! JB. Quote
Tony B Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Funnily enough!! There may be a suitable place going in Ver Sur Mer. Pro's it is in the middle, got it's own battery and the Goldbeach Musuem (Also the first place trans Atlantic air mail landed) We could always arrange to land the HMVF LST at Arramonche. Quote
Bodge Deep Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 So long as i can have the first two weeks in June evey year you're on... I think I can see a potential problem with this Quote
Degsy Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I like the idea of it but unfortunately can see several potential problems. Quote
ArtistsRifles Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Sounds an interesting concept Jack!! Depending on the amount required (still unemployed right now) I'd be interested. What aize area, capacity for vehicles/people would you be looking at??? And what triggered the idea???? Quote

Tony B Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 The GOOD news! There will be firing of the guns at Tilly Sur Seulels, next door to a Calvados distilery. Bad news, still have to drive back to camp afterwards. Quote
Jack Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 Sounds an interesting concept Jack!! And what triggered the idea???? Some one came to me the other day with a proposal... :coffee: I liked it. Quote
6 X 6 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Good luck with this. Although, I'm unlikely to become in involved in this particular project, I think it's an excellent idea and wish you all the best in making it happen. I think forum members could be thinking of other ways of making our mark, outside of the forum, to our mutual benefit. Quote

Snapper Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Escargot and chips appearing on the club house menu?:shake: Meules et frites, old boy. Meules et frites. Try the Cafe de Paris in Calais. Especially good atmosphere on a sunday morning when the church band come in for their beer. Also the place on the square in St Omer is nice too. Next to an Irish bar, can't name it at the mo. It has a Place de Marechal Foch street sign above it. Quality food done well for a reasonable price. Yumm. Quote
ArtistsRifles Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Mussels - UGH!!!!! (Assuming you did mean to put "Moules" as "Meules" translates as "Grinding Stones"!!!)   Lee - I don't think Jack's gonna thank you for pointing out to the world he's using the loo......   Quote
