martylee Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Just before christmas Max Manus had it's premiere at the cinemas around norway. This is probably the most expensive movie ever made in Norway. The movie is based upon the stories of famous norwegian sabotour Max Manus and his work during the war. I jut finished his two books which was very good indeed. Written in the good tone of 1946. Haven't seen the movie yet, but will very soon. Here's a link to the movie: http://www.maxmanusfilmen.no/ Another resistance hero Gunnar Sønsteby still holds lectures bout his experience during the war. That one I have to see soon, before it's too late. The man is 94 years old. Marty Quote

6 X 6 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 (edited) While we're on this subject I very highly recommend "Two eggs on my plate" by Oluf Olsen. Mr.Olsen was extraordinarily brave, as were all the men and women Norwegian resistance fighters, and this book details some of his exploits. The "two eggs" in the title refers to the custom of giving two eggs, and not the usual one, at breakfast time to signal that this was the day one would be leaving the training camp in the UK and being parachuted back into Norway. A thrilling read. Just adding this link. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_b?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=Two+eggs+on+my+plate&x=12&y=21 Edited January 9, 2009 by 6 X 6 Quote
