Compared to previous years the weather started out ok,By the time the rain arrived we had finished the off rd course so were ready for lunch.

I think the organisers deserve a mention, the event was not swamped with to much H&S,but all sensable precautions were taken. Thanks to those involved.

Also i hate to say it but Mercedes must be thanked for allowing the vehicles on there off rd course. This year they also allowed two set aside viewing areas for non driving visitors actually on the course, and they were ferried back and fourth by a routemaster.Without the off rd facility i think this event at this time of the year would struggle.

The number of vehicles attending was good allthough the pattern for smaller vehicles was evident,i think pat counted 30 jeeps,Landrover nos were also high.Yes i know i took one.

Champ attendence was good also.

The prize of the day went to the GMC Refueler,a regular at several of the events recently.

HMVF members that i know were Steve Ryan,Grasshopper,Chris godward.

and here they are.

Went and had a good day out. Off road course was fun though bent a bit of the rollbar on a tree. Despite that my mum performed brilliantly on the off road course apart from one small hill with a rut on the other side. The 101 never missed a beat. All in all a top day out.

this jeep broke down early on,so the other one just carried on with him in tow.

I was pleased to see lots of very nice jeeps being treated to some fairly harsh treatment, well done chaps, you notice lots of people laughing.

Mike...was that the sharpe left you took after the hump in the middle of the course? Did wonder why you turned there.

First time I have taken the Ferret offroad...I know its nothing too severe, but great fun :)

Larkspur antenna bases, .30cal mount, early markings, it may have been in GW1 but it wouldn't have looked like that if it was.

A special one for RF:-D

Oh thanks CW :)......the company had dropsides and vans, as I said before, no heaters. One of the fitters used to bring a Primus stove and fire it up in the cab at lunch time when out on jobs during cold weather, he used to pump like hell and I had one hand on the door handle in case it blew up :shake::shake::shake:

We are probably just sad g--s with nothing better to do.

i must admit i am a bit surprised at the lack of response sometimes .as we have over a thousand members.i think the true figure of partisipating members is a fraction of that.

The sharp left was because coming over the hill the was a hole on the other side and my mum didn't see it and we just veered to the left. Oh and the loke with desert painted ferret lives about 10 mins up the road from me and i think he attends the west london mvt group meeting. Don't really know him.

:) Yes, I made sure to keep a strong hold of the wheel as I went over..thought it may be something like that.

The sand ferret is owned by, I think, Kevin Browne, the secretary of Heathrow and West London MVT.

Mine definately needs some TLC...didn't realise it looked so rough until I saw the photo!

He is also Vice Chairman of the Bovy Friends.

His Ferret is marked up for Aden service because that's where it served, it is not, nor ever has been, GW1

The modern camo baskets are therefore of course slight embellishments, as Chris points out all other fittings (incl Larkspur radios but excluding the inevitable Clansman intercom) are correct for the Aden era.
