Jessie The Jeep Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 The weekend had a few showers to start each day, but it did dry up and I'm fairly sure everyone enjoyed it, and the railway was pleased with the turn out of public. Because of the number of girlies in our group, one of the frequent happenings at our war weekends is a 1940's fashion show. To start off a few pictures from the event, here's some of fashion show. Joris Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Keep them coming! (just remember, you can post more then one image in a post) Quote
Jessie The Jeep Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 I know, but pages take ages to load if there are too many pics per post. Off out for the day shortly, so will post more later. Steve Quote
Jessie The Jeep Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 Both days started out typically English - rain showers, on and off through the morning, becoming bright in the afternoon. Saturday was probably the more damp day, but even then, once the sun came out, you could feel yourself cooking. This was taken Sunday morning, waiting to dry off the table and get all the gear out yet again! On Saturday morning, we must have set out and packed away the kit 8 to 10 times avoiding showers which generally lasted no more than about 5 minutes. Quote
Jessie The Jeep Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 Here's a selection of the more unusual vehicles. Quote
Jessie The Jeep Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 and the WC-7 Command Car from our own group. Quote
Jessie The Jeep Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 There were also several displays of kit and equipment. Quote
Jessie The Jeep Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 (edited) Allies were represented by the Yanks, British Paras and French underground. There was a small battle each day between the 'opposing forces', in which the Germans also got involved!! Edited August 5, 2008 by Jessie The Jeep Quote
Jessie The Jeep Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 There was a nice moment during the battle in which I caught the German officer lying on the ground with his fingers in his ears! Nice to see him leading from the front. Quote
Jessie The Jeep Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 There were some post war vehicles too, but most too well hidden under camo nets! Quote
