66GT67 is now owned by Garratt Commercials of Sparkford, Somerset and is painted in Red/Silver nowadays.

Thanks to your self and Plantters ( for the photos of its final days in service). This EKA was new to 44 Dist. Wkps. at Ashford until it closed in 1996 and I spent a lot of repair time on it. It was used to recover around our area and bring in work. The cab became very rusty and a new day cab was located at Unipower, using the old cab to convert the new one. Nice to know it is still working.

Seeing Double!!

Well it had to happen sooner or later.... Another call from Witham with "The very last of the Crusader EKA's....."

Sounds familier as that was what they said about my first one......

Anyway up to see it and struck a good deal and managed to do another deal on a nice Craven Tasker 20T Recovery Trailer at the same time.....

So now 66GT23 joins 66GT14 / HLK79T

Richard F you will probably recall this one i think it was based at your old depot, i took the shot in the layby at the Hare and Hounds on the A20 its towing a cabless S26 dump truck in NATO white possibly from the engineers at Maidstone

Yes Les, that was our old girl. In service with us whole life until 1996. But I cannot recollect a S26 coming in without a cab, could have been when they returned from a UN mission in Africa.

Managed to find myself a fairly clean 35 tonner to add to the collection... :)

First job will be to find the Scammell badging for the front, second job will be fitting a set of high speed diffs, third job will be finding a nice Low Loader to go with it.... Any info will be greatly appreciated!

A few more pics on my site....

Go back to post 30 on this thread. It is possible to fit the recovery diffs but you can do even better. I believe Marathon 6x4 used the same axles.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for that.

Think I have it sorted. Same set up as Roland has in his "Roadhaus" set up.

I havent given up on the S26 by the way, just need to part with one of the EKA's first.

Tractor looks good, was it one of the last batch that had been to ABRO?

S26 may have 70mph diffs available which although provisionally sold have not been collected.:cool2:

Let me have some details of the EKA, cab condition, mileage, kit etc and I will spread the word.

Mike, Yes she was at ABRO, done 20k since her visit there

The EKA I will sell is shown on my site but not many pictures.

Pretty much a full kit with her, bars, forks, chains, extensions, crane attachments etc etc.

Fully registered as "Breakdown Vehicle" so MOT exempt and taxed for 11 months!!

A little scruffy paintwise and a few dings here and there but a very useable truck all the same.

305 Rolls Eagle.....

Can Deliver!!

Well done, that does look a tidy one !

Thanks John

It was a good day all in all.

Dave had a nice chain driven winch for the constructor which I bought and a C6 Rolls which, if I have problems with the cracked block on Grahams one, will get me out of trouble. Is going to deliver as well.....

Just need that Low Loader now and all will be right in my Scammell World!

Thanks again for the heads up.

I'll see if I can find you the trailer next. A friend of mine just bought the S26 and trailer which was on E-bay a month or so back.

Yes I have kicked myself several times over that S26 and trailer. I did bid on it a couple of times and then when I fainally decided to buy it it had been sold a few days prior!

I was up at Rush Green a few weeks ago.... The Crusader and Trailer in question are still there. At least I think they are, so covered in brambles and moss etc you can never quite be sure.

Found the guy quite difficult to deal with so didnt buy anything but may take a trip back and see if I can get a closer look.

Need some info on your friend in preston as i need to get hold of the diff parts some time in the not to distant future.

On the back is a spare engine and Darlington Chain Drive winch for the Super Constructor.

Cheshire cat style grin here I can tell you

Can anyone post a picture of the axle weight plate that should be on the nearside cubby box inside the cab. Mine doesn't seem to have one and I just know that its going to cause all sorts of Agro when i go to get it MOT'd....?

Nice one Nigel ! Is the engine for the Constructor or the Crusader ?

Hi Andy,

Its for the Constructor. Crusaders always smoke like that..... :-D

Sadly the block in it has a frost damage crack which I am hoping to have repaired by a specialist welding company.

If that fails then I will build a new engine round the replacement I got when I bought the 35 tonner.

Reported to be a good runner so felt the oppurtunity to buy it shouldnt be overlooked.

Now all I need is a Constructor cab........:???
