Hhhmm very litle to go,

just in case you don`t know i would have thought these were Scottish troops (centre rear man has tarten band on hat)

Can you get better definition of the capbadge from the origonal photo if you have it could be Sutherland Highlanders.

In good army tradition every one of them is sporting a porn tache. By the 1980s they were beginning to pass out of favour (maybe because of associations with the Village People?). I only shaved mine off after I had started in my current job so it must have been about 1998-99.

I'm sure you looked more like seventies footballers.

 

It's difficult to put a locale or ID much. Jocks probably, India maybe. Give it time, more people need to see it.

The chap with the `tash has afairly distinct arm badge which should narrow it down, i would of thought pre 1900 and can any firearms guys i.d. the rifle??

Could be a Lee Metford. Very thick furniture though. The trigger gaurd looks very small for a Martini action, so probably a bolt action. If it is a number one it must be post 1906.
