Scammell Constructor Gallery.

Catweazle and Kewelde so far, interesting - anyone else thinking of poking fun at the Constructor's abilities?

I'll be happy to accept a pint off both of you should you care to post a retract statement to restore the honour of Scammell, but -

should you force me to publish an axle loading diagram (showing the effect of the homemade underlift unit :cool2:), then I'll be looking to let some tyres down..........

How about we have a poll on this one?

Oh, here is another pic (forum crash victim) of Scammell man Peter Court and his dogs, Sammy and (?) standing in front of "AVONHILL", an ex 30T tractor unit and one of his favourites. He fitted the lift arms off a giant wheel loader as a spade - the biggest spade I've seen!

My comment regarding keeping my new Diamond T in its civvy paint is because we own Peter Court's Constructor, we removed all jib and spade so we can convert back to a 5th wheel tractor. so gutted I did that!Scammell.jpg

Sorry to have to admit I had the 5th wheel mounting frame from that one many years ago.:D The 5th wheel from a Crusader fits spot on with just a slightly different handle to the original and I can let you have a sketch of what the frame looks like if you cannot find one.

Out of interest did the T belong to an old guy who lived in the Leicester area in the early 1990s?

Hi Yes, we have a Crusader 5th wheel for it, and yes again we need the dimensions to make a sub frame to bolt between it and the chassis, your help would be appreciated.

And to the second question, yes he did, He passed away recently, I bought the T from his wife, she had some good stories, he sounded like a good old school heavy haulage man, shame I never had the chance to meet him.

Yes Mike they only made the body that big for the crew, tools and spares and we wonder why we no longer have a British heavy truck industry haha. Rumour has it that they where so slow that you could change a prop on the move if you had those creepers with wheels to lay on!
