Jack
Folks - whilst I was replacing my brakes at the weekend I noticed all of the rear wheel nuts and studs under layers of paint were red. Would this be an undercoat or a Norwegianpractice? Best wishes. Jack.
Joris
No they were originally red...
Tony B
As Joris said this was standard practice on the rim nuts, the idea was to try to stop people blowing themselves to eternity by splitting the rims whilist there was air in the tyre. At the riak of teaching evryone to suck egges, but never loose the chance to impress saftey. NEVER LOOSEN THE NUTS HOLDING A SPLIT RIM UNLESS YOU HAVE THE TRYE VALVE FOR THE WHEEL IN YOUR HOT LITTLE HAND!!!:nono:
Jack
These weren't rim nuts - just wheel nuts
Tony B
:???Are they the same thread? Or is it a case of one man coming up with a fool proof idea, and the human race retaliating with a better idiot.:-D

LeeEnfield
Bedfords are both red and white; Red for rims white for wheel. Andy
Lauren Child
My partner's father drove allsorts for the British Army. He used to have to paint the nuts on vehicles red for inspection by visiting bigwigs. Then it would be painted back afterwards. Did the Norwegians do the same thing?
