Could anyone tell me what year, or even better month, the dip was incorperated into the top of a jeeps grill? Unless im mistaken, earlier jeep grills dont have this dip.

Cheers.

According to John Farleys "The standardised war time Jeep" the pressed grille, a Ford design, superseded the slat grill and was introduced in March '42 without dip, he refers to the dip as being introduced later, the only reference is a picture of a Willys of May '42 production that has the dip.

Perhaps a question for the rivet counters on G503.com forum

Pardon my ignorance but what dip are we talking about and where can it be found/seen on a grille?

Gazza

In the centre of the top flange of a jeep grille there is a small half round "dip" clearly seen when the bonnet is open
