Joris Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Yeah and it's the first time I read how much the sacreficed for time. I knew about the two regiments that surrendered virtually without a fight but hardly anything about these guys. Two infantry regiments facing an entire panzer army! Quote
abn deuce Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 If I recall properly it tells in detail of how they fought from house to house and from floor to floor to try and hold on . Vastly out numbered still they held on. Quote
Joris Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Yeah indeed, you should read this book you'll enjoy it! Quote
abn deuce Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 I have and quite a few others from the different branches of the services from WWII to Vietnam. Filled with Brave deeds by many who did not survive , and unfortunately often being commanded by arm chair officers who had no idea of conditions. Pardon the rant Quote
AlienFTM Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Yeah and it's the first time I read how much the sacreficed for time. I knew about the two regiments that surrendered virtually without a fight but hardly anything about these guys. Two infantry regiments facing an entire panzer army! Three Panzer Armies. From memory 5 Panzer Army on one flank, 6 SS Panzer Army on point - obviously and & 7 Panzer Army on the other flank. But I could be wrong. Quote
