BravoFoxtrot Posted January 1 Posted January 1 A Christmas present was this large oil pump that was sold from the Charlestown Shipwreck Museum auction in November as World War II Mechanised Landing Craft, sunk off of Pagham, Sussex, 1943 Complete bronze Oil Pump and Housing 43cm x 25cm x 25cm, 21.5kg. A clean has shown that it is marked with C<T ( C Broadarrow T) and has been underwater for some time as shown by barnacles. The oil in the inlet and outlet pipes is still fairly solid. There are multiple 4 and 44 marks on the two lobed gears. In the past I have had a Merlin oil pump and it as a 10th of the size of this one. So not from a Packard Merlin or similar sized small Landing craft engine. I am guessing that it is from a larger vessel ? I also assume as it is broad arrow marked it is British made and not US ? I wonder if the multitude of stamped 4 is that it was also made in 44 which would preclude a 43 sinking. Has anyone seen a similar 16 inch wide/9.75 inch tall with 4.25 lobed gears and /or a C<T markings. 1 Quote
