Deathwing Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 The right indicator doesn't always flash - see video attached. Weird thing is that sometimes it does, or it flashes briefly then stops flashing. Left indicator works fine. Any thoughts what it could be? VID_20241205_190245400.mp4 Quote
fv1609 Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Does it still do it with another bulb? I once had a similar problem due to a broken filament Although it looked intact & there was continuity confirmed by an ohmmeter . But when supplied with volts the heat of the filament caused the end of the broken filament to fall away & break the circuit. Once turned off the filament cooled & made contact again. Sidelights & turn lights are always prone to poor earth problems. Also check that front & rear bulbs are the correct wattage as that determines the current drawn through the bi-metallic strip in the flasher unit to function correctly. Quote
fv1609 Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 I was wondering if one of your bulbs was like this with an intermittent break? Quote
Deathwing Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 Good ideas; I will look into switching the bulbs round tomorrow as that's an easy one to check. If it comes to investigating the wiring/earthing that becomes harder! Vehicle electricians happy to work on it are hard to come by for some reason Quote
David Herbert Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 I am very impressed that Clive has a photo of a bulb with a broken filament. I just throw them away ! David Quote

I don't have the circuit diagram for a 432 but it may not be a straightforward flasher to turn lights. Although this was used as an add-on for Ferrets, in a Pig the flasher drives a relay & despite being a 24v vehicle the turn lights are 12v. Quote
Deathwing Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 Thanks - we've replaced the flasher in case that was the issue but hasn't helped. Out of curiosity, where are you located Clive? Quote

Deathwing Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 Ahh, I'm in Norwich. Opposite side of the country Quote
