Citroman Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 (edited) A Jeep transformed with an Opel Olympia body. War ruins in the back. I don't know what license plate it has (Danish?). SUV avant la lettre. Edited December 1, 2024 by Citroman 4 Quote
Citroman Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 (edited) The french firm Duriez did offer special woodie bodies for Jeep and Dodges. They also transformed Dodges in forward control. Edited December 1, 2024 by Citroman Quote
norseman 02 Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Back in the 'sixties I had a Willys Overland station wagon, 2WD with the 3 speed 'box selected by column mounted shift & an automatic overdrive that engaged if you came off the gas at speeds over 40 mph. By the time I bought it some moron had butchered the rear body to convert the car to a pick-up truck, but it suited my needs at the time. I seem to recall it had a front bench seat, I'll try to find any pics. & post. 1 Quote

Looks like the standard US Forces license plate in use then, although it is hard to tell if it is the version for privately owned or millitary vehicles. Quote

norseman 02 Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 The wheels look suspiciously like they are off a Range Rover classic. Quote
10FM68 Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Plenty of precedent from the war - this one is Canadian I believe. Image from the internet. Post war there were a number of coachbuilders in UK which made bespoke bodies for Jeeps - often to a very high standard. I have seen quite a few pictures of them, but I can't remember where! Quote
