Evant Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Hi, currently helping work on a 1950 Humber pig. I’m wanting to look into the history of where this was used as only had 1047 miles on the clock. i believe there should be two plates one we have located one in the engine bay Infront of the passage window. any advice on where to find the second plate and further information would be greatly appreciated. Hans Posted December 1 Posted December 1 Hello Evant, on my Pig there is a plate on the LH chassis member, just behind the frontwheel. Also there is a plate in the cabin, in front of the passenger, attached to the firewall. Quote

If it is there then it suggests is an unarmoured Humber, in an armoured Humber (ie Pig) it is where Hans has described. The chassis plate gives the serial number, military registration, contract number & vehicle designation. The plate be it in the engine bay (unarmoured) or cab (armoured) gives the contract & serial number for the body. It is of no value in tracing the history or identifying the vehicle. In an unarmoured Humber you may also find a small plate riveted on near the gearbox tunnel in the engine bay marked 'C' with 4 digits that relates just to the body not the chassis. There is a contract plate, designation & serial number for the engine situated below the the exhaust manifold but a bit difficult to see. There were no Humber 1 Ton trucks whether armoured or not in 1950, these followed some years later. Do you have any pictures of the vehicle itself you could post to help identify the vehicle? Quote
