Well, you' re getting there, certainly.  I would now swap the bridge circle and the AOS sign over so that the AOS sign and the formation sign match, both being on the front of the wings.  Then put the same signs on the back - on the panels of the tailboard behind the pick & shovel.  Same dimensions and formation sign again on the nearside.  Then loe the union jack off the back.  How about then going the whole hog and adding light stone camouflage?  I must say, though, that's a lovely looking Land Rover a credit to the restorer.

Thanks. Union Jack is going from the back.

I can’t seem to find a rear view of an Aden Land Rover with signage but have found these.

They will not be that visible behind the tools - assume that’s normal?

Tempted to paint the sand camo on !!

They'd turn in their graves if they could see the dreadful standard modern British Army vehicles are kept to!

And, Paul, note which side at the back the AOS sign goes - your montage is the wrong way round.  No idea why the photo with the Paras has the sign in a different colour, but it could well be a Para thing - they used light blue for census numbers instead of white for a while, for example.

And - generally:  the photo of the Series 2 in Gibraltar looks to have been taken in the 1960s, judging by the olive green combat suit and blancoed anklets.  But the Land Rover has Xtragrip tyres.  My unit only started getting them in the mid-70s, I'm sure, so when did the Army introduce them as replacements for the bargrip pattern?

Bugger they will have to stay this way for a while as I had to cut them slightly !!!!

We will see who notices 😢 looks good though.

I should have read your reply in more depth.

That does look better, I must say.  Don't worry about the back - few people will notice and, anyway, the Army often got it wrong too!  Next job?  Paint black the silver line round the front number plate - army ones were usually all black - like your rear one!  And then... near perfection!  Well done, it's a cracking vehilce and I;m glad to see you haven't smartened up the pick and shovel handles - they rarely were as they didn't live on the vehicle - they were kept in the stores and only issued when required.  If they were tidied at all, generally that meant rubbing down and being given a wipe over with linseed oil to keep them supple.  Painting them dries them out and then they break.

I should loose the mud flaps really but it’s a Land Rover I actually drive around.

Will get onto the number plate.

Sand camo - hmmmm !!

Thanks for all the help 👍

Paul a couple of questions if I may. Is your 40A charging system still there & working? Have we corresponded before on the EMLRA forum? There was someone there with an EL, but I no longer visit that forum since it became a members only forum. Although I am (for the moment) a member I am saddened that it no longer is an open forum.

It would have been 24v 40a but that has all been removed. Now 12v.

A shame a lot of Toasties have gone that way, was a significant part of the original vehicle. But at least it is still running, anyway not your fault. 🙂
