JulianW Posted August 25 Posted August 25 I am currently assembling the primary side of my 'WDCO which I am building from parts. This at times is a little harder than rebuilding a bike from a complete non runner as I have not had the benefit of stripping and photographing to aid assembly! I am a little confused regarding seals etc.. I have fitted at felt washer seal in the outer primary chaincase where the foot peg bar protrudes which seems to make sense and the felt washer I have fits nicely. I also have purchased a Chaincase Spigot Washer from Hitchocks. (23940) This is a larger lipped rubber seal. Question is where does it go? It seems to fit at the front of the chaincase over the top of the engine sprocket and seal this to the chaincase. Is this right or does it go somewhere else such as behind the chaincase between the chaincase and the engine? Please excuse me if I have this totally wrong and am missing the obvious, I am not an engineer and this is my first venture into motorcycles earlier than the later 1960's... Quote
Ron Posted August 26 Posted August 26 The rubber seal fits against the engine behind the inner chaincase. The smaller diameter should be a snug fit in the hole for the sprocket. Ron 1 Quote
JulianW Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 Thank you both for your rapid responses. I should be able to sort the clutch and primary drive out now today with everything in the right place ! Another big step to getting the bike completed. Julian Quote
