DFC1943Fl.Lt.
Hi guys, anyone know or have a 19set outer case for sale or know of anyone that sell's them. The threads on the 4 tabs in each corner have been stripped out so the radio set will not keep in the case. Cheers in advance Steve.
gordonb
A dab of weld in each hole, drill and retap? Gordon
DFC1943Fl.Lt.
Yer did think about that but its difficult to drill a small hole in a weld, usually the drill slips off and makes a hole to the side. No room for mistakes.
Funksammler
You can probably repair it using helicoils...
Richard Farrant
Another solution would be to use Rivnuts
DFC1943Fl.Lt.
Thanks for all your replys. As usual the forum is a wealth of information and help. All sorted now as have managed to source a replacement outer case while I ponder which way to go with the old one. Many thanks Steve. Edited May 18, 2022 by DFC1943Fl.Lt. johnwardle
There was a No.19 radio case in my dad's garage, he died 3 years ago and we haven't got round to the daunting task of clearing the garage out. The garage was a prefab house and the last 10 feet of it (where I last saw the 19 set cabinet) is literally up to the roof! My brothers and myself have set a date in August to clear everything out, if the 19 set cabinet is still there I will let you know.
