wally dugan Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Besides catalogues and manuals l also have collected military models today while clearing the over spill shed out this has now seen the light of day for the first time in years the glass cabinet it five feet long x two feet wide by fifteen inches high and contains seventy plus models of ships and vehicles that were on D-DAY to be seen down to a jeep These models were commissioned by SIR PATRICK WALL MP who commanded a gun fire support vessel on D-DAY as a officer in the royal marines who in civilian life had one of the largest private model collections in the UK .It was rumoured that he had a second model of this made for LORD MOUNTBATTEN but this has never been confirmed. This now has to go and will be put into the local auction as it should be seen sorry for the poor quality of the photographs 2 Quote
wally dugan Posted October 31, 2022 Author Posted October 31, 2022 To put afoot note the auctioneers who were asked to sell the models only wanted to break the models up and sell individually which was not how l wanted. Today l found out that these waterline models were made by BASSETT-LOWKE and one alone is worth two thirds of the reserve price so now l will keep them 3 1 Quote
