We have recently been thinking about buying a Denix replica Lee Enfield to go along with our truck and for when we attend events. Obviously I am over 18, but when it says membership of a group needs to be proven what groups would that be? If we are not part of a re-enactment group what others would be deemed acceptable?

You need to ask the seller. The MVT maybe acceptable.

MVT membership is acceptable, also membership of AFRA Reenactors Insurance
