Elephant?

 

 

Could be but probably not, they had there own special contrivances. Couldn't find any pictures of special equipt for elephants for forthcoming Windscreen. Have since found a picture of pack eqpt for elephant but missed the deadline :-(

Is it a seat for a Mule for casualty evacuation?

 

 

Yes Robert mule or horse. But the use on mules would quickly exhaust the animal, so I imagine it was to get casualties away from the immediate front lines.

 

The picture was of a Chairs, Packsaddle, Folding when placed the right way up(!) with Cushions, Folding became a Cacolet here seen with Rests, Leg

That bit on the side looks very like the Thompson splint, still issued, I've got one as part of the 101s equipment. your leg fits in and any convinient bar is put under the instep of your boot heel and then tied to the frame. I'm told by a doctor mate it is very effective at stabilising fractures.

Oops just realised 2 in a row, must go lie down brain overheating. :?
