I have this part/tool with my hub and gearbox parts .I have been told that  it is to pull the buz bar back. can anyone help with the purpose. Thanks Laurence

Correct, it is for working the bus bar shaft while setting up  gearbox bands. Used one of these many times, fits Fox as well.
