Can you identify these markings?

Shown on the front of what is believed to be a RASC Motor Coach Company Dennis Lancet - does this mean it was the 9th Motor Coach Company? 500 troop?

Is the 9 not the Bridge number? But from memory 9 is 6x4s and 6x6s etc so obviously heavier vehicles so do buses fit in that?

I have no idea. The are no other numbers on this vehicle......

Hello Billh35,

The 9 on the yellow circle is the vehicle bridge number, it equates approx to the loaded mass of the vehicle. The mass calculation is not so simple, but fair to say the loaded vehicle would be approx 9 Tons. A vehicle is not allowed to cross a bridge that displays a lower rating number than the vehicle bridge plate, also subject to vehicle spacing.

I do not know what the 8 relates to, maybe bus 8, it looks to me as if the 500 is on a two colour background divided diagonally, with a white bar below, someone will know which formation this relates to.

The two colour background would be red over green diagonally, which denotes Royal Army Service Corps

I expect it to be RASC but I thought the markings may denote which MCC they belonged to - which they don't and there is no military number on it....

The number 8, if I am informed correctly, is a chalked number added to help keep together various convoys.  Other than that I cannot help further, other than to add that the squaddies appear to be Canadians given the I.D. numbers on the bike tanks ( and the fact they are Harleys.)

Some more vehicles I have found images of in Northern Ireland but I am not sure of their units? I am attaching the photos......there seems to be two different units...
