Beats me why they bother writing all of this waffle, e.g. “the navy chaps would soon have seen to that”, “we imagine it was known as that big slow handy katy” etc.  Surely anybody who is seriously interested in a vehicle like this is more interested in its military history, its originality, authenticity and condition than in some homely back story detailing its cosy life as a farm truck?

I guess the price goes down each time as the previous bidders have dropped out.  IMHO not a good time to sell something like this if you want top dollar - folk would want to see it in the flesh. If you follow the TV series on these auctioneers, they are always commenting that pre-war vehicles are now very cheap as the clientele that was interested in that era are now dying out (literally) and the action tends to have moved to 1970s onwards.  The same is possibly also seen in the MV world if you look at the price of military Land Rovers cf this Austin truck!

Think you have a point there, or two. Online auctions are ok but with a vehicle actually seeing it I think is really important.

Interest in vehicles from the 70s onwards has really picked up, I do agree its an age thing. You go for something you remember as a kid etc.

I would say though as an owner of pre-war cars that their prices are actually going upwards in most cases. Even starter classics like Morris 8's, Austin 10's and the like all seem to be heading upwards a little.
