P.S. For planning purposes, how much are the  7.00x18 tyres each?

In theory, less than £300 each, final price will be announced once they are in the warehouse and all the dreaded fees are paid.

You are doing a great job with tyres for many owners of WW2 era vehicles, that weren't even 40 years old when I joined the MVCG. Now my LR Lwt is nearing 42 years old and like many Lwt owners we could do with some 6.50 x 16 tyres with the typical MOD tread.

I forget the tyre designation now. Was it Michelin XZL? It been so long since  I have seen any! Sadly we all have to use larger 7.50 x 16 such as Deestone but I am told such larger tyres were NEVER fitted by the British Army.

So I'm told these 6.50 x 16 tyres in the exact size and tread pattern are made in the far east but not available here in the UK.

So I understand these 6.50 tyres need inner tubes but not being a tyre specialist dont know if they are available or need sourcing with the tyres.

Could you possibly help?

Hello Barry,

I just wanted to pass on a hearty THANK YOU for making up the batch of 10.50x20 and 7.00x18 tyres.  I picked mine up at the logistics hub today and they look great and appear robustly made.  The Daimlers will look great with them on.

Best Regards

We have 10.50-16 Track grip style on the way, they have been delayed as we are waiting on some other sizes to be produced and then all ship together. We anticipate them to be here in a couple months all being well.

I can't remember if I saw this post but I would be interested in tyres for a Lwt Land Rover. They should be 9.00 x 16, but I have to use 9.50 x 16 as the others are not available in the UK.

Currently I have fitted Deestones but with the proper looking British Army tread, but Im told the British Army never fitted 9.50 x16, so a source for the smaller ones would be great.

I think the tread pattern is Michelin XZL

Larry,

You posted with the correct 6.50 size earlier and have now posted again with the incorrect sizes. What you need are 6.50x16 Goodyear Xtra Grip. Sometimes Withams have them on their online auctions but they will be NOS and quite old by now.

Thanks. Of course you are right it is the 6.50 x 16 I need, and I would not trust some 30 year old tyres on my Lwt, even if the inner tubes were new.

Shame that 6.50 are no longer available. I thought at one time many Short Wheel Base LRs used them?

Military tread  w.t.f.   Goodyear Extra-Grips  are a mud tyre and double-up over rocks,  XM&S  type all season is what you need.  Same rolling dia.  as  6.50   , launch the boat with new 5.50  rims and the best 205 going  (the treadway should be just at body-line).   A ex-works Mich. family fit for Classic RR,  some Disco and OK for Defender 90"   + if you anticipate hard packed snow/ice  - you can always fit studs.  They will see you out on mileage.   https://4x4tyres.co.uk/product/205-80-16-michelin-x-ms-244-104t-tyre/

Ruxy, I am holding out for some 6.50 x 16 tyres with Xtragrip military tread to keep my Lwt looking like '1980s British Army' as best as I can, to go on my specially prepared spare set of '231601' wheels.

I knew one Lwt owner who fitted what he said were tyres used on London black cabs, and they looked awful!

There must surely be a market for 6.50 x 16s in the Uk as there are plenty of Lwts that could use them at the right price.

Hopefully they still make them somewhere and the inner tubes?
