Rootes75 Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Yes, we saw that but the lots we like would be expensive to send. We did wonder about a grouo of us getting together and taking a van up there if we won multiple lots. Quote
MatchFuzee Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 The Blackburn Beverly to be re-purposed. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/people/worlds-last-blackburn-beverley-aircraft-saved-plan-create-amazing-holiday-let-2991337 Quote
Rootes75 Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Is this a good thing or bad thing? Positive its been saved from scrap but an AirBnB? I suppose as he says the costs to restore and maintain aren't commercially viable. Quote
wally dugan Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 the idea of selling rivets for a pound each has been done before Quote
Rootes75 Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 So do I get this right, crowdfund in order to raise £100k so he can move it, refurb it and then make money from hiring it out? Quote
mtskull Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 In an ideal world the aircraft would be fully restored and preserved as original but at least this way it will continue to exist and, as long as it exists then restoration to original remains a possibility, should a future generation appreciate such things. Rootes75 Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 An old thread but I recall watching huge lots of Military Handbooks in this auction. I was wondering if anyone has any idea of where they all went? Collectors, dealers or anyone on the forum? Quote
LarryH57 Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Of course if you make a Beverley into a holiday let, it needs all the facilities, heating lighting and flushing loo etc, plus all those health and safety features. Quote

I doubt that Duxford would have wanted it, they’ve enough large aircraft sitting outside to keep them busy for years. Quote
