Mick Norton
Dear All, Does anyone have any detail on post WW2 Sherman tanks that were converted to a civil engineering role? The two photographs I attach show typical conversions such as pulling a towed box scraper. Any information would be appreciated. Hair Bear
I had a book from the library about farm tractors which had a picture of a Sherman being used for ploughing. I'll try and find the book title.
john1950
Vickers converted several before they produced the Vigor/Vicon range. They were marketed as Shervic tractors, made at Vickers Elswick works on the river Tyne. Mk3iain
I remember seeing some used as "yarders" hauling felled trees up hills in North America on documentaries etc. Also some interesting stuff here, http://www.theshermantank.com/tag/logging/ Iain

Cel
Two Shervicks have been scrapped in Belgium between 2003-2005. One was in Ostend, I was only a couple of weeks late, the track marks could still be seen. The other one was near Mons and had been cut up a month before I knew about it. I will see if I can find the pictures.
john1950
Possibly the best chance is the Ground nut scheme area if any were left and are still hidden in the jungle. Pictures are good to look forward to.
