wally dugan
To day we packed all the files on the heavies the antars scammell leylands all the tank transporter trailers and any thing that falls into this class there was a nice folder of coloured photos of the trials the commander prototypes as well as the trials of loading the challenger on to the trailer and the damage it caused before modification. l also found the comparison trials in the late 1940s on ww2 motor cycles in service and what it lead to the B40 and the TRW Edited April 24, 2020 by wally dugan
radiomike7
Hi Wally, Thanks for taking the time and trouble to post over the last couple of pages. I suspect you know that a quantity of Rotinoffs were sold to the Swiss army and a few have returned to the UK in preservation.
wally dugan
The trials on the Rotinoff showed that on the whole they were well liked but apart from niggling small faults the one that did concern them was at 12400 mile was wear on the middle axle worm gear teeth . One for the motor cycle men dated 1920
wally dugan
One of the original 1945 design for postwar military vehicles document this runs to one hundred and thirty pages it covers all aspects from tanks to motor cycles and even design plans for a british halftrack

Lovely to see that High Gloss DBG twinkling in the Sunshine, so very British 60s. The trailer went through quite a bit of change, not seen such an early example before.

Ex-boy
These take me back. I joined the Army Scaling Authority just before amalgamation with the Army Cataloguing Authority, so went through all those name changes. From ASA to ASCA to ATSA to DLO. I had no hand in CESs, but thanks for the reminder of times past Wally.

Richard Farrant
Hi Wally, That is interesting. We had one of the early Series 2a Station Wagons 27EK31 which was specially adapted as a Test Station for guided missiles. The vehicle was bought from a dealer then prepared and entered in a charity motoring event in Australia for REME 50th anniversary in 1992 and raised money for the Army Benevolent Fund in the process. regards, Richard

wally dugan
I have just started unpacking my latest two boxes from my friend and they are giving me some surprises one is a folder of pictures of the mock up model vehicles as some of you will already know that these things were made at MVEE others were made by specialist model makers Edited May 10, 2020 by wally dugan
fv1609
All good stuff Wally. In this treasure trove are there any pictures of that Hornet model when it was intended to be the Orange William launcher? I have a picture of it, probably at the changeover period to Malkara when there is a strange hemisphere over the controller's windscreen. But there is some labelling that has been deliberately obliterated that I suspect may have referred to Orange William? On the subject of OW are the any models of the other proposed launcher FV426 I wonder?
