Scammell4199
On 3/6/2020 at 10:29 PM, the DT guy said: evening Richard sadly the T wont be ready for A&E this year even though that was my full intention but it just hasn't worked out. so i'll be going with Jason Jefferies and his 981/rogers. As each year goes by I have every intention of having the Scammell ready but for one reason or another it doesn’t happen. Flippin work gets in the way of us enjoying our toys! I know Jason, so I’ll meet up with you there and enjoy a chat about big green toys.

the DT guy
managed to collect the new front fenders the other weekend and get them fitted, all of a sudden she looks like a Diamond again. shame it all has to come off to be painted and fine tuned by same time nice to have it all back on for final fit real soon. day i collected the wings just chucked them on to get a feel for how they will fit. welding the front mounting brackets which fit to the top bumper plate. ready to start fitting to the truck. one side mounted with the tread plate and new head light and mount fitted. last saturday had the toys out and really happy with how the diamond is looking with it's face back on. did a few laps of the field and boy i can't wait to get her on the road!!!

draganm
3 years can go by so quickly, most people have nothing to mark that time You have a beautifully restored truck , congratulations are in order, it's a beauty
the DT guy
thank you very much chaps only problem with restoring a vehicle for 3+ years is the urge to rush it gets very tempting but really hoping to run it on the road next year.

John Comber
If you give him too much praise he’ll never get his head in the cab to drive it 😉
FV1604A
Hi John, I don’t think my praise will affect him. I have had the pleasure of seeing his work on the T ‘in the flesh’ and I am “stunned”. For me, it takes restoration of an ancient beautiful truck into a different world and I am impressed, s*d it, praise indeed where praise is due. Crack on and finish it, young man (before you become an old man). Watch your head though when you drive it around your field again! Cheers, John, Best wishes, Sam, Mike. the DT guy
that's what ratchet straps are for John 😜 glad the standard is to your liking Mike come along way since you seen her. think she was just a chassis and front axle when you seen it? hope life is treating your self and your good lady kindly Mike best regards sam
the DT guy
don't need to say much over than frilled with how the truck is turning out so far. have started on my 45 ton Rogers which is going to be a challenge so i'll probably do a separate thread for that. hopefully next year she'll be out n about for every one to see.
Zero-Five-Two
I think you are well justified in being pleased with her. You've done a fine job. I know the feeling about being tempted to rush the last few bits, but with the current situation and most of this years shows cancelled the temptation is much reduced
the DT guy
not much to report on the Diamond as i am actually running out of jobs to do on here which seems odd after 5 years. both diesel tanks, mud guards and battery box lids are know on, and got the new 300 ft winch cable fed onto the drum 2 weeks ago. all that is left is: repair bonnet blast/paint ballast box new wind screen glass & rubber inner door skins wire in head lights fit windscreen wiper motors & pipe work stencils so no excuses not to have it finished for next season.
the DT guy
finally had a week off (last week) so had some me time with the diamond and it is amazing how much you can get done in a week. wiring in 7 pin trailer plug floor mat as the smooth floor is a bit slippery and just adds a bit of comfort for the long trips planned. ballast box with under side already top coated and top side primed/rubbed down ready for top coats. just like that it almost looks finished! fully ballasted with about 10 1/2 - 11 ton of cast steel blocks. have been test driving the truck in the field and it pulls very well and handles the bumpy field with no issues. only issue so far is the auxiliary transmission gear linkage dismantled it self, due to a stripped thread but that has been fixed know. next jobs will be fitment of inner door skins, wind screen glass ounce i get the new rubber and some stencils. regards sam
